Interest Spielberg's Hook - Captain's Dagger!

Why were the tangs removed? They are important for strength.
What do you mean with "tangs"? English is not my native language (and also not Sarednab's ;)), so basically I have no clue what parts you mean...?

-- Edit --

Did some googling on "dagger tang" and came across this. I guess that's what you mean, right? The part attached to the blade, so it slides firmly into the handle?

Yes I think he mean this and it will be in all blades.

Yeah I think he means in actual real world knives, tangs are always part of the blade. One solid piece for strength. This being a prop, the tang being a separate piece and welded I’m sure is no big deal

;)

Yeah I was slightly baffled as to why they were making the tang a separate piece too... Why add the extra step of welding one on when it should be part of the blade from the beginning?

Seems everyone has figured out my question. I agree with shpider, I am wondering why it was removed only to be reattached? Or will it be? I am aware it's a prop. It's pretty insulting for anyone to feel the need to point it out. Just because it's a prop doesn't mean you need to remove the tang, when it was already there. I saw the pics. Just curious, why remove it?

With one it would be nearly impossible to break the handle off, without the tang, eventually the handle will break.

What are you planning on doing with this thing that the handle will break?

Guys, factory made daggers from 40 years and this is the process always used to do daggers, so don’t worry. I don’t understand all these problems. I think is better to show pics only of finished item at this point

Indeed, I'm also not too worried. I guess nobody will actually use this as a functional knife, right? So it will be more than strong enough, I think.

But I also agree that it is strange that they do it this way, manily because it adds complexity. Just casting it in one piece seems more simple than adding it afterwards. Maybe the tang is made out of different material than the blade itself and that's the reason?

Anyway, as long as it's firmly attached on the handle and nicely alligned, it's OK for me. It's a display piece after all. (Not going to wear my Iron Man helmet for protection either ;-) ).

I’m not worried about it at all. Gonna be a sweet display piece! Don’t plan on fighting Peter Pan with it!;)

I think peter74 made a fantastic Pan’s sword! I’ll take it for sure so no reason to do another replica ;)

I have also asked for one, it looks fantastic...

Either way I will be pleased. Great work. I don't want to sound ungrateful for the hard work. I am. I was just a bit confused. It's all good. The work speaks for itself.

Ok guys, this is the stand designed for Hook’s Dagger! ;)
I’ll send you a PM with final payment quote soon. In this PM you can confirm if you’ll need stand or if you want just the dagger

I like it. Simple, but effective...

I came across these kind of dagger stand. If that would be an option, I would even like it more... :

Stand is already done Tom, so if anyone need a stand for dagger, it will be like the one in pic ;)
Consider that it is real wood, not cheap plastic

I realize that you are probably just about to do an update, so sorry if I'm stepping on your toes, but it's been 6 weeks. I know we are all excited. When do you think the blades will be finished so we can pay and see them going out?
