Space 1999 Eagle Transporter Build Club (PIC HEAVY!)

Well, I have managed to make enough progress to make and pour up the moulds for the back wall and for the seat. Also, I have poured the first half of the mould for the Alphanaut. Tomorrow will see the results!

Cool: something to look forward to! :cool

Sounds a lot more fun than my housecleaning...:(

Update: I have finally started casting the seats!!! 8) I will paint a pair up to show the finished pieces tomorrow, hopefully. In the meantime, here are the first two out of the mould.

Another small update: the seats are now finished and I have started casting them!

I assembled and painted up a pair to see how they look.

Here is a quick shot of them against the back wall I moulded and cast

I think they look great, but I am probably biased!:D

Thanks, Chris
I appreciate your ongoing support, Mate!

Well I have finally finished the master sculpt of the Eagle pilot to go with the moon buggy driver. I sat him in one of the seats I made. I think he looks okay...

I have managed to pretty much build the domed walls/ceiling section of the CM cockpit. It's now a question of ironing out any lingering niggles etc.. So far, it is in three pieces. In this first picture, I have tacked the the side sections to the back wall in order to allow me to take measurements etc, and for test fitting purposes

I think that if I decide to 'kit' this, I will have to supply installation instructions to help make sense of it all!

This next image shows a test fitting into the CM and it is pretty much exactly where I want it to be.

The top, square panel in this last image, which bridges the gap between the curved wall sections is slightly raised (2mm) to accomodate the sensor dish alcove that protrudes into the ceiling space. Although I don't think it detracts at all from the over all effect.

My idea at the moment is to now look at the feasibility of constructing the lower portions of the walls where the instrument panels sit.
I do think that it is, again, really important to point out that the cockpit will not - CANNOT have the depth of the TV Cockpit Set due to the age old discrepancies that we have all learned about. Consequently, if I do decide to add those lower panel sections, it will not be possible to add ALL the instrument panels as per the real thing.
Anyway, that pretty much shows where I am with this project so far and I will post another update as soon as I have made some more progress.
All comments will be greatly appreciated on this one as it is proving most difficult to proverbially cram 10lbs of apples into a 5lb bag! :wacko

Wow, Darren! That is all looking fantastic, two thumbs up mate! I don't have anything constructive to add but you're doing some quality work here, I'm sure your solutions will be top notch. :)

Darren, this is the most impressive bit yet, and you have posted some very, very impressive bits. So clean & perfect!

Chris, you are one of the most talented builders that I have the honour of knowing, so praise from you is high praise indeed!!! As for "so clean and perfect" I lay the blame for that squarely at Bob's (LMFAOSchwarz) door! His guidance and inspiration, followed by his incredibly generous gift of styrene sheets, rods and strips etc that enabled me to realise just what a revelation it was after working for so long with cereal boxes and papier mâché. I miss him....:(
I still want one of your incredible phasers, by the way.:D

I guess he is still in the process of finally moving so, he is between internet connections, so to speak. I just miss him around the old' place. He's got a way of leaving a vacuum by not being here...:(

Aww...you won't be missing me for long, I still promise! I apologize profusely for my absence. This moving/new job/other issues will end...sooner or later... (it better..! :wacko )
Just think of me temporarily as the Halley's Comet of builders! :lol I'll be back! :)

Now, Darren..you've got some seriously cool work going on here! And don't thank me, you've done all the work. You provided the dirt and the seeds, I just brought some water. Or maybe more accurately, You brought the seeds and the water, I brought dirt...hmm, doesn't sound as good that way..:lol

That's an interesting thought, building a Darren Eagle kit! Bet it'd out-sell my office furniture kits! :lol

Oh yeah, and not to slight Darren's contribution: I may have given him some styrene, but I got those cool little Darren-made Eagle astronaut figurines to populate my ship! :thumbsup

Yeah! My favourite is still the bearded dude!

Win/win is always....
a win...
okay they can't all be witty gems.

We'd settle for SOME! JUST KIDDING! :lol

I never realised just how labour and time intensive it is, casting and casting and casting! I'm struggling to keep up with the orders! Hence, my absence... Good to have you back, Bob!
