I have managed to pretty much build the domed walls/ceiling section of the CM cockpit. It's now a question of ironing out any lingering niggles etc.. So far, it is in three pieces. In this first picture, I have tacked the the side sections to the back wall in order to allow me to take measurements etc, and for test fitting purposes
I think that if I decide to 'kit' this, I will have to supply installation instructions to help make sense of it all!
This next image shows a test fitting into the CM and it is pretty much exactly where I want it to be.
The top, square panel in this last image, which bridges the gap between the curved wall sections is slightly raised (2mm) to accomodate the sensor dish alcove that protrudes into the ceiling space. Although I don't think it detracts at all from the over all effect.
My idea at the moment is to now look at the feasibility of constructing the lower portions of the walls where the instrument panels sit.
I do think that it is, again, really important to point out that the cockpit will not - CANNOT have the depth of the TV Cockpit Set due to the age old discrepancies that we have all learned about. Consequently, if I do decide to add those lower panel sections, it will not be possible to add ALL the instrument panels as per the real thing.
Anyway, that pretty much shows where I am with this project so far and I will post another update as soon as I have made some more progress.
All comments will be greatly appreciated on this one as it is proving most difficult to proverbially cram 10lbs of apples into a 5lb bag! :wacko
