Solo: A Star Wars Story

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

I can't get past the fact the Ehrenreich looks nothing like Ford...

Me too, man.

I don't know whether this has been said before, but I have a theory that Disney is going to remake the Holy Trilogy (and, probably, the prequels) in the next 5 years and they are gearing up for that by getting a new cast together. So, Ford as Solo will be considered a myth like the Jedi in TFA and will fade into a distant memory.

Sucks to get old. For all of us.

There are absolutely ZERO plans for 3 Han Solo films over the next 5 years. Zero. So your theory lacks any veracity whatsoever.

Calm down, your highness! Don't get excited!

What I meant to say was 5 or so years from NOW. Not within these next 5 years. Also, Alden has signed on for 3 movies. So...

And besides, it's just a theory. Not fact. So veracity doesn't even come into play here.

Signing him for a 3 film contract also means nothing, it's standard practice. It doesn't show any intent to make additional films, it simply assures the studio they can have access to the actor for any eventuality.

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

A huge amount of our non saga movie future depends on the reception that rogue one gets. If R1 is a success then the solo trilogy will likely become much more likely, the fact a 3rd movie has yet to be confirmed even after the huge financial rewards of TFA

There is a buzz about the script and early signs are very positive from production.

As long as they make good films and entertain then anything can happen, if R1 flops then I think the cogs will turn backwards for a while

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

Cool because that link to the article on \film is still reporting that rumor. Something about its possibly why they announced his casting so far ahead of the film.

I doubt they would remake the OT any time soon.

Not because Disney has too much respect to do it. But they know it would burn a lot of goodwill with the public & SW fanbase. Disney understands that's bad for business in the long run (even if Sony does not).

For the time being they don't need old SW movie ideas. They have at least 2 more surefire hits coming with Ep#8-9 and probably a total of 4-5 more when you include the non-episodic movies. Between Rogue One, the Han Solo project, and some kind of likely Boba Fett movie, they already have a whole trilogy's worth of near-OT-era screen time to play with.

The prequels might get remade sooner than the OT.
I've been thinking about that idea ever since, oh, about the time Ep#2 came out and it was clear the whole PT wasn't going to measure up.

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

I don't think there will be any remakes,....expansion & continuation,.....

(please don't bring up the subject of Ep 7 being a remake)

You said it. I didn't. [emoji57]

I actually wouldn't half mind seeing the PT get remade BUT I don't support it simply because that is such a slippery slope. Where does it end? The existing movies are what they are and let's continue on. I certainly wouldn't want to see the OT get remade, at least not any more than TPM and TFA were "remakes" of ANH.

Let me say, unequivocally and without exception, there is ZERO chance Disney will remake any Star Wars film. Zero. Disney is very precious with their properties and their legacy and they value that.

I've said before that I hope somebody in Japan unofficially makes an anime series that retells the first 6 stories. With like, 56 episodes or something.

I think that would be perfect. It would be just enough without wrecking the official canon

How does that ethos square with upcoming Pete's Dragon remake?
Or the recent Maleficent movie?
They did a low-budget TV movie remake of The Love Bug in the 1990s.
Etc.

Disney is entirely capable of remaking the OT if the circumstances were more ripe for it.
