Gerard2567 anything is possible but I don’t think anyone have uncovered just where it originally came just yet. Seems like you might be onto something although some of the details don’t seem to line up

at this point 800 grit sandpaper acts more like a polish, added some base silver, then finishing with a matte then gloss black..

I actually meant the entire part, it's really realistic and will set it appart from other replicas. good job ;)

scope weaver wheels

In the 3 pics that follow the weaver that is pictured directly below is not the same as the ones that were used on film. The 2nd and 3rd pics are screen grabs (one just overexposed)..

These work but come with the wrong wheels..

The wheels on the film used version seem to be few and far between these days so I replica is needed to fit that above weaver.

First pic is of a real old school styled weaver along with the replica wheels. No primer with this material just a base of matte black, then silver, then matte, then finished with graphite black metallic..

awesome work!

Pay closer attention to the thumbscrews on the scope rings...they are differently sized. Don´t see that detail on your build yet, hence my comment

I appreciate it!

Any help and guidance is more than welcome. But I do have the same concern that eethan pointed out as well. I guess it depends on the build you are going for maybe? They are different sized on this top blaster but they are also different weavers all together on that one as well from what is seen in the film?

The only picture I have from the film is that film grab I took and it’s very hard to tell honestly what one is seeing. Maybe you see it differently or have a better picture? Again I truly appreciate the guidance and looking out..

I did a little more of a deep dive into this and hopefully this isn’t to confusing. I overlaid again the two pics with the two different weavers. I subjectively tried to size them up to each other and then by duplicating the pic and each box/line I was able to keep each of those the same size with the pic itself. So nothing would change from each image within and it “looks” like the film props weaver wheels are the same and proportional to the front weaver on the other GK pic? Seems like for some reason they used an undersized wheel for the back one when they rebuilt it?? Sorry if this is confusing, english is my first langue yes but it was never my best subject ..

modifying the denix by adding the extraction mark. I used an MGC’s extraction mark to replicate it, then a mini mill on the bolt.

painting.. start with primer, light sanding, silver, matte & then gloss so it to pops against the denix..

the grips. I switched the screws to these Escutcheon grip screws from “midwayUSA”.

Finishing I first add some black paint, then lightly sand it, then finish with a varnish. The pennies hold them in place..
