So, no RPF love for the new pilot, Poe Dameron?

Here is one I am almost done with from 2 red kapp coveralls.

it is actually a little darker than the picture shows with more red and not just orange. Lighting is tricky sometimes.

I have an extra pair of Men's Medium (size 9/22.50 cms) police riot gloves used as TFA pilots gloves. made by in the UK by Southcombe Brothers the original manufacturer. Sizing info here: http://www.southcombe.com/sizing/i70

I believe WampaWear has both styles... split thumb pad and single thumb pad.

The leather WampaWear is using is not heavy enough and it is not pebbled. The end of the gauntlet cuff on the replicas lacks the roll and the shape of the foam padding is slightly off. For most people they are close enough and are half the price of what I could get originals for last year. The Costumebase gloves have all sorts of dimensional issues on the pads (too big) and worst of all aren't even made from real leather but rather shiny "pleather" polyurethane.

Apologies if this was covered earlier in the thread, but have any alternatives for the gloves been found? Last I heard the original source was unavailable. Thanks.

WampaWear (Out of Colorado but made in East Asia) and CostumeBase on Ebay (in Argentina) both sell knockoffs of the orginals. They participated in group order on the OEM production gloves from Southcombe Bros. Which they then promptly copied but the copies are subpar imo. The originals were surplus police riot gloves aka public order gloves that came both lined with lightweight synthetic black fleece and lined with kevlar. Very heavy duty and well made. Both were used in filmed TFA. Southcombe Bros advised me that the reason the gloves were surplused was because the UK police force switched to a different riot armor which provided wrist/arm protection and the large gauntlet portion of the glove was no longer necessary.

The gloves for example are no longer made, they're ex-UK Police Public order gloves (Riot Police) M300s. With two pads on the thumb on Poe's, and 1 pad on the thumb for everyone else's. They're so hard to find now. There's a guy selling them for about $80 on facebook, can't remember if I found him on here or on Rebel Legion. But the supply is scarce sadly, people have been emailing the original production people to see what it'd take to get them to make another run lol

I organized the group order of gloves we did for the Americas and Asia last year over at Rebel Legion. At the time Southcombe required a minimal order of 20 gloves at full MSRP. The Pound Sterling to USD exchange rate was not favorable at the time and trans Atlantic shipping was expensive. Organizing it and getting everyone to pay on time was a huge headache. With cheaper replicas that are close enough for most folks I do not think it is worth organizing another run from Southcombe and thats if they would even do it again as they are a large company I was surprised they even entertained doing such a small run.

Here are some photos of a pair from the group order. I believe the wrist straps were cut off those used in TFA. The glove has a triangle shaped gusset on the inside of the wrist.

Took me a couple weeks to complete, but i got LEDs into my chestbox. The light does not photograph well so it just looks like glow in the pic, but in person it's nice bright blue and red buttons above the single green one. I cut them from white acrylic so when off it just looks solid white.

got the weathering pretty much done too, just a bit more before i clearcoat it.

Seeing as JJ is out as an option, where have others gotten their jacket greeblies? I bought an inexpensive pair off Etsy, but I'm still looking to upgrade.

I got a set off shapeways. They are pretty good though the lower part is off just a little bit.

For anyone who ordered the Po-Zu boots - if I'm in between sizes, should I size up or down?

I would email them with your measurements with socks on. Their customer service is awesome. So good in fact I ordered a pair of Rey boots for my daughter and wife after getting mine and working with them. They are very comfortable and wife has even ordered another pair of boots!

Still planning on doing a set of metal ones...
Color me interested! I know your stuff is always top notch, and metal would add that extra layer of authenticity.

I have a set up on Shapeways now as well. They're specifically designed to fit the Zlurpo jacket, but they could work for others as well.

I'll give these a look as well! Now that con season has passed -- well, for those of us who weren't in LA this weekend, anyway -- I don't know when I'll "need" the jacket next, so I'm definitely gonna shop around a bit.

yes, actually. I was just working on the template for it today, so that will be available soon. The full write-up on it will take me some time to complete, but will be available at some point. It's pretty simple to construct. Just 5mm foam, 2mm foam and a mesh fabric overlay with some added rivets and 2" webbing for the belt strap.

Template and basic assembly instructions below:

1. Combine these (2) template pages together as shown and adjust the size to your blaster as needed.
https://emeraldb.com/resistance-pilot-holster-template1/

https://emeraldb.com/resistance-pilot-holster-template2/

2. Cut the template out of 5mm thick foam
http://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Ho...-Foam/Black-5mm-Thick-EVA-Foam-Sheet/p/111098
, wrap around blaster, mark, and glue together with contact cement as shown

3. Mark and trim the area above the trigger including the open cutout section

4. Cut out and glue on the front strap piece

https://emeraldbdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2016/11/pilot-holster-trim-template.jpg

5. Make a template for the raised trim area by wrapping a sheet of paper around the outside of the holster between the edges of the front strap piece and tracing the outline with a pencil.

6. Mark about 1/2" all the way around this paper template piece, then cut out the middle section. This gives you 1 template for the raised trim (the outside piece) and 1 for the texture (the inside piece)

7. Transfer the raised trim template (the outside piece) you just made to 2mm thick foam and glue it to the holster.

8. Transfer the textured pattern to some mesh fabric, screen, textured thin foam or whatever you want to use for the texture and glue it on with more contact cement. I used thin mesh fabric I had on hand.

https://emeraldbdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2016/11/pilot-holster-overlays.jpg

9. Spray the entire outside of the holster with PlastiDip. Do not spray the inside, tape the inside off so it does not get coated.

10. Paint with spray paint or acrylic paint, I used acrylics.

11. Glue on your rivets, I used the top half of some 1/4" rivets I had on hand.

https://emeraldbdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2016/11/pilot-holster-strap.jpg

12. Attach a piece 2" wide webbing for the belt strap using rivets. I used 2 rivets to make the belt loop and 2 to attach to the back of the holster.
