Well I can't wait to see everyone's props as they will Take My Breath Away while I'm Playing With The Boys!

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! SET FOR MARCH 6th 2011 **SEE 1st POST**

Ok...after talking to Hollywood Treasure aka PIH and giving them the "bad news" that apparently they aren't welcome at the prop party. They made a suggestion that I'm proposing here for them.
They suggested that perhaps instead of attending the prop party they asked what we thought if they rented the room next to or near the prop party and held a " screen props evaluation" like they did in LA earlier this year. It would still give those a chance to bring their Screen Used Props to show them for evaluation and that some of you won't have to worry about them taking over the party since they would be in their own separate room. I talked to Brad last night and he feels it couldn't hurt to ask and this is just a suggestion and they won't go if they aren't welcome there. I personally feel it would benefit the party and maybe some props might show up there we wouldn't get a look at otherwise.... but I can't speak for the rest of you and of course again this is nothing really definite.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! SET FOR MARCH 6th 2011 **SEE 1st POST**

I object to the "aren't welcome" label. But whatever.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! SET FOR MARCH 6th 2011 **SEE 1st POST**

whatever. I think this is being WAY overthought. If they want to come, let them come.

I guess the ONLY thing I would put as a caveat is this: that they ask ANYONE if it's ok to film them and their stuff before doing so.

Frankly, I don't think there's going to be much at the party for them to see. There's going to be far more replicas than screen used pieces, and usually these are more about the meeting up than the showing off.

I think getting an room of their own is a rediculous idea, as they'll be lucky to have two or three screen used pieces at the entire party. But hey, theyr'e free to spend their money however they want.

In general, I think it's a bad idea to turn people away from a prop party because they don't celebrate their passion for the hobby in the exact same way that you do.

And here's another great idea: why not ask them to bring some of THEIR screen used props for US to see??

Matt,

I did ask them to bring something...weather they would or not is up to them. Ive also been talking to people I know who aren't even aware of this party who have some really cool props they could show. I figured having them there (PIH) would bring more fresh blood to the party and perhaps lure more collectors out of the woodwork who aren't on forums or read the RPF. Maybe some actor or relative of an actor from an old movie might show up to have things he saved evaluated..who knows? This is just an experiment. I know at their last evaluation the wife of the man who made Freddy's Gloves from nightmare showed up. Some people have props who aren't collectors stored on a shelf collecting dust. I just felt this might be a good opportunity for all. I agree with Matt that this is way over-thought but it was just a way to try to satisfy everyone with concerns. If noone wants them there then they won't be there...I was only trying to inject new ideas into the party to keep it fresh and help it grow.

This.

I think things are getting blown way out of proportion. This is just a bunch of dudes getting together to show off the props we've been working on - not the Stonecutters debuting the Ark of the Covenant.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! SET FOR MARCH 6th 2011 **SEE 1st POST**

I personally am very confused by the negative reactions. Is it out of fear that their replica props will be sniffed out by the licensing police? I just don't get it.

For those that fear they are there to capitalize on their props, here's a tip: DON'T SHOW THEM TO THE CAMERA!!!

These folks are obvoiusly really into props, as it's something they do for a living. Seems kind of ironically backward to turn them away. "No pros! Hacks only!!!"

whatever.

Either way, *I* Personally don't care. I'm just going there to get a glimpse at JediFyfe, and get the "Players Update" from micdavis.

This is the thing for me. I basically think it'd be waste of their time.

Why can't they just show up as people and if the see something they like make something happen after the fact.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! SET FOR MARCH 6th 2011 **SEE 1st POST**

I'm wanted by the FBI and cant be seen on tv...... ;)

my biggest problemo is their presence may change the atmosphere of the prop party.....see...if they were there to mingle, chat, talk about props, then i dont mind...but, it seems they could careless about the prop party...could careless about the props and making of them....they just want 2 see what they consign.....their la appraisal show was a "bust".......most likely, this will be a "bust" for them....

Plus, if they held another public appraisal in a room next to us, then we run the risk of strangers coming into ours and anything can happen which was a concern a few pages ago

I'm leaving my production props/screen-used at home
