smart gun by a steadicam op

hey guys

I've always loved the aliens smartgun thought it was the coolest thing ever. my day job is as a steadicam operator and i own a rig. So I already have the most expensive part of the system. So i thought this would be something I really want to do. My steadicam is a Provid2, so it's a newer model and the arm doesn't quite look like the original IIIA. I might be able to put some shells on my arm to make it look more like the IIIA. My vest padding is dark blue, but that should be easy to dye. My vest doesn't feature a quick release either, but I don't think i'm going to kill myself for 100% accuracy. 90% is ok for me. Any mods i do to the vest and arm would have to be purely cosmetic, maybe even reversible, as I still use the system professionally.

I've been following Ultimate badass's build and i am blown away.

So my biggest question is where to start with the gun?

there is a resin kit. http://goldenarmor.com/m-56-smartgun/m56-smartgun-replica-kit.html

any one try that? $400 reviews? thoughts

Could start with airsoft mg42 they are pretty pricey. and would still have to do all the rest of the mods.

Part of me also wants to put nerfgun internals into it. with one of those nerf drum mags. It would have a great fun factor at cons ext

I also saw the foam smart gun. that was actually pretty descent.

any way any thoughts.

Also Matsuo builds these for people professionally...but are extremely accurate and high in price....but there are other alternatives....some on youtube might show others Smart gun builds....not sure, I would imagine , those could be on there to view as well as anything else these days..I prefer metal props myself in building my own ....I love the realism of weight and feel , but that's just me !!!....haha
