New stack of cards going out this morning. Mostly plain and plain plus a solder option.

It takes about ten minutes each or so to actually hand solder these, remove excess solder, clean the flux with acetone, then polish. So I am hoping to have all current orders ready to ship out on Saturday.

What I usually ask when I take nixie clock kit orders is to give me up t o 7 working days to get a kit in the mail. Due to the amount of orders on clampcards, I may ask the same thing, but let me get a bunch of these done to see how long it actually takes.

I also wonder, if the ESB side of these cards would work for the version of the graflex shown in The Force Awakens? I would assume so if it is essentialy the same saber with a little modification. Can't remember offhand what the visual differences are between the ESB Graflex and the TFA one.

If I may ask, when soldering the fine lines, do you put the soldering iron on the line to hear it up and then put the solder on it, or do you get a glob of solder on the tip of the soldering iron and then trace it onto the fine lines?

Just trying to deduce if I have the skills to do that myself or not.

Here's what I do. I heat the trace, and I have a VERY thin wire of silver solder, and tap a very tiny dot of solder onto the trace, then wipe it across the trace with the iron.

I then take a strand of desoldering wick, make sure it has flux in it, and heat that on top of the trace with the silver solder on it. Then when everything is the right temp, I carefully wipe the desoldering wick across the trace, with the iron on top, slowly, and consistently as possible to ensure an even coverage.

Then I clean up any stray solder as best I can with the iron, go out to the garage and wipe it all down with acetone to clean the flux off, then come in and polish it up with my wife's fingernail buffer on the two finer sides.

If that leaves any residue, I then clean it a final time with acetone, bag it, and ship it.

The ESB traces are easier, I just solder and wipe in a straight line. The ROTJ Traces are trouble, as they are bent and I have to change direction mid heated swipe.

Hope that helps explain the process a bit. If you want to do it, it's fine by me, as it makes less work for me.

hey guys. this may be a question that's been asked/answered a million times but which version of the esb card is more accurate, the rounded or square circuit? it seems from the screen shots that the rounded version is more like the original prop but on this version of your card (sloth) you went with the square esb side. thoughts?

I never expected to be excited by a photo of a box of envelopes but...there it is!

I think they look rounded in this image

Would be interested in a gold plated, soldered rounded edged card like this

I still have the rounded layout that I had made available previously, but I haven't re-ordered it due to demand of the squared one.

It's a possibility, but I'd need some interest before I made another order.

And I can't tell if that pic is rounded or squared... I could go either way.

Thanks for the feedback!

Shipping Update: I dropped off a bundle of packages this morning at the post office, and I have ten orders left to process (solder, clean, polish, clean, bag, print postage, ship.)
That includes some of you here, and some from other forums.

If you got an email from me via stamps.com last night, you have a package on the way. I apologize for not being able to get them all out the door more quickly, but I may have underestimated how fast these things would sell. I've had to put the soldering iron in overdrive lately.

I suddenly have about 8 left of the current shipment.

A re-order will happen, but my manufacturer wants to raise the price. I will negotiate with them in the meantime, while I still have some in stock.

Again, as always, thank you all for the opportunity to deliver this part. If any of you have issues with your card, or questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

-Brad (sloth)

I'm sorry I asked before but just to clarify:

There is no silver solder on the screen used Luke ESB or Luke V2 but some people just like it?????

what is the difference between the 3 rotj cards if you can post the pictures would be cool thank you in advance for your availability

I just ordered a silver-soldered ROTJ card.

From the answers to my question about why this was an option, folks said that it is, at this point, impossible to tell for sure based on the existing screen caps and still images whether it was there or not, but that 1) this was done on some circuit boards during this time, 2) in some pics there seems to be a contrast between the tabs and traces that could be attributed to the tabs being gold and the traces being silver, and 3) it looks better in the opinion of most to silver solder the traces so a tie goes to this direction.

Please anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

Excellent explanation.

Thanks.:thumbsup

Soldered for me when the time comes if I can get one of the new Luke V2s. :( Definitely need one for one of my Roman's that will be my Luke ESB.
