Sideshow Hellboy Samaritan - Take 2 (merged)

Would someone be kind enough to measure the diameter of the shells? I have seen mentioned on one site that they are 22mm, another that a 12 Gauge shotgun shell fits diameter wise. Would be good to know exactly how big they are.

Well, got notification of shipping tonight, so the UK one's are on their way now.

It said delivery in '1to 2' days...

Must... contain... excitement...

I have 12 gauge shotgun shells in my old Samaritan and they fit perfectly. (Spares from my "Vera/Alice" project.) They are just short enough so as not to stick out the front of the barrel.

Got the same info but the tracking number they supplied does not work :angry

Sometimes, when a business has an in-house shipping setup with a place like fed-ex or ups (or whoever they use), they have the ability to generate tracking numbers. But in some cases, the actual shipper isn't made aware of the new tracking numbers until the end of day when all that stuff is updated.

For instance, where I work, we can generate UPS and Fed-Ex tracking numbers for outgoing packages. But until the courier comes and scans in the packages, the tracking number only exists in our system and UPS's/F-E's number database (so the same tracking number isn't given out multiple times during the day). But their tracking system doesn't know about it until it's picked or dropped off at a shipping facility.

NO, you have not wasted your money. Guys just polish out the silver paint and then sand the edges of the gun down on the right edges and it looks great.
When I first gt mine I felt disappointed just like you but with just a LITTLE work the difference is so dramatic that I now love it.

BTW do NOT, and let me repeat this is big bod red letters :

Do NOT flip close the gun. It will break very quickly. If you inspect the mechanism very closely you will see that the lever has to be pressed for the gun to open AND close. The made the angle on the latch just a tad small. If you file the angle a bit then you should be OK though.

MInes awaiting me at my wife's work, and Im pretty excited to collect it.
I'll admit Im pretty pi''ed as the extra price for ordering direct through the supplier- what the hells all that about ???????
I think I am right in saying that even taking the exchange rate into account, we still paid over the odds in the UK.
Heyho.

Mind you, I dont own the original resin version, and this being metal, will fit in nicely with the ManMelter I have.

My only 'eh?' is why they made a base up when they could have made a replica box ( see other thread) which could also have helped double as a packing box, which would have made more sense to me.

Let you know tomorrow what I think....
D

I agree also, that they should have made the box the Samaritan was kept in!:unsure I'll be making my own box to display it in as soon as I have the time.

I'm willing to bet it just never crossed their minds. I'm sure people are asking why they didn't do the box and they're sitting back back scratching their heads saying, " Yeah...WHY didn't we do that...?" :lol

My exclusive arrived today, I have to say I'm very pleased with it. The weathering could be better but a little work will sort that out. When that's done it'll be a great display piece. Even the grips look good unless you have your nose pressed up to it.

Mine arrived today as well and overall I'm quite happy.
Does anybody know how the weathering was done on the real prop ?

mine arrived, Im happy too, although the fit of the metal bullets really should have been better for a production piece.

That being said, the finish of my WETA Manmelter is as good/bad depending on how you want to look at it- (mold wise my manmelter is a little warped too).

I am not sure if I am going to customise the paint job on mine, its not brilliant ( the metal bar over the top of the barrell is especially clumsy).
Also, I would agree that my grips look very good- I may not have actually known they werent wood had I not known or really really looked.

I am pleased with the glow rounds- the shape of the bullet itself is why you get the hot spot at the clear tip btw. I may repaint the brass casing and add a bit of weathering.

I have a mate at WETA, a sculptor, so I will ask him if he knows any more about the Samaritan.

STILL miffed at the overall price though...

Ok, picked mine up today and I LOVE IT. Yes, I am still very disappointed that the grips are not wood but compared to the original Samaritan this was a good deal. The base alone is a beautiful display piece!

I've been comparing the original and this new version and here are a few points:

- Even with the stupid silver paint (which I will be removing asap) the finish looks much better. I'm not sure what is causing t, but the black paint actually looks more like it was painted onto metal

- The bullets have been completely redone. The new ones are better cast, but slightly smaller, resulting in a poor fit. The original bullets have a more realistic brass paint (I'm guessing it's a candy clear coat).

- Real brass 12 gauge shells fit a little better in the original.

- The metal Samaritan has improved detailing. A few parts of my polystone version are a little "soft" and the barrel is not centered. The new version isn't perfect, but it is improved.

- the grips feel slightly better on the new version.

- My tracer rounds are not really well put together either. They don't come apart easily, but I personally would never accept the light shining through the pain the way it does... looks pretty silly.

All in all, well worth the purchase for me. I plan to use my old bullets with the new gun. The old Samaritan will be coming to work with me on monday.

Guys, for all of you that don't like the light coming through the brass and don't want to repaint the whole thing. Just give the inside a coat of flat black, or easier still, just glue a strip of black electric tape (or whatever its called) around the inside.

Anybody slated for the 2nd shipment hear anything about their order?

I was supposed to be charged the last payment "on or about November 15th" (according to the last email I got). Well, here we are, "on or about" the 17th and I still haven't seen any updates.
