So I am about to run out the door and deliver this. A friend wanted the 8th doctors new / alternate Sonic Screwdriver. He couldn't find it any where, I did see a post on here about a 3D print limited run but couldn't find any links to where he could purchase one. When I told him about it he said he wasn't crafty enough to build one, even from a kit. So I agreed to sculpt him one from scratch.
Here it is finished.

I scraped the threaded ends from a pocket lite so it could separate into three pieces. That way he could change the batteries and the light if it died.
The wiring was a pain in the rear. I did all the wiring and then sculpted around the wires (just light. no sounds). Which was a huge mistake and the main body ended up twice as thick as it should be. I smashed it to bits and started over shoving all the wires into a small pvc tube then sculpting around the tube.
I didnt have any resin to cast the gem and the only thing close I could find was a large acrylic crystal that I cut to size, colored blue with ink pigment, then clear coated which wrecked the pigment in this cool blotchy crackle fashion. The fins, I negative sculpted out of modeling clay. Then casted out of JB weld. The rest was sculpted out of bondo. I had to sculpt the button because I could not for the life of me find a button. all I have in my shop are switches for some reason. But I did find appropriate scrap wood in my shop. Which I realized after going to every craft store with in 20 miles. All they seemed to carry was really soft balsa. I hope he likes it. I didnt find the stats for it until after it was finished. It is 10 inches long instead of the originals 9. I took a lot of artistic liberty with it, because there really doesn't seem to be that many reference pictures of the one that was built for Paul Mcgann

Oh. And I had a bunch of these stickers I threw in with it as an extra. The design was made for a spray paint stencil
but I though it would be fun to print out a bunch of stickers for Steamcon last year as a hand out to people who did Doctor Who inspired costumes or props. I only ended up handing out a few so I have a huge stack just sitting on my desk.
