Show your Dr. Who props!

A couple of months ago I decided to begin purchasing a new prop, The Key to Time. However, due to the cost of this prop it made more sense to collect it over time rather than all at once. This got me thinking and I realized that I found the idea of posting a picture of each new segment, as I received one, a tad boring because after the third one at least, it would just be another picture of a crystal shard and would get rather old to anyone keeping up with my collection. So, I had a plan, since I was essentially embarking on my own adventure for the Key to Time, why not have fun with it and actually share the adventure with all of you?

So here it is. In these strips we join Romana III and the Tenth Doctor as they continue their quest for “The Key to Time…Again”! Basically, each time I collect a new segment I plan to continue the adventure! At least until all six segments have been found…

We start with Episode 1: The Reebok Operation:

And one of the first segment and the tracer together

The key itself is a resin cast replica based off of the original (which was also resin cast of course) and was made by Paul Pape. The Tracer was replicated by The Scones of Blood using original parts however I replaced the tip using a 3D printed part made by 13DoctorWho on Shapeways to specifically fit my tracer.

Thanks Ford! We had a lot of fun doing it and already have a few more planned. Oddly not the second one lol But we will! We have time. This adventure will take as long as it takes so I am not stressing it and just having fun.

...Call me crazy, but I'm new here, and looking around, I wonder if I should stay on Etsy... Everyone else has got these amazing woodworking and PVC masterpieces, and I'm a simple knitter. Are you guys in anyway interested in seeing stringcraft? Because if so... Well, this is one of my prides -- my Doctor Who scarf. This was my first one, and I'm on number... five now, I think. This is supposed to be screen accurate, but I've since changed my mind about colours. I prefer a burgandy instead of the orange-red everyone else insists on, I just think it looks more handsome. Otherwise, this is my colour scheme - bluff tan, orchid purple, coffee brown, goldenrod (yellow), heather grey, burgandy (red), forest green. It's a garter stitch, according to the pattern from DoctorWhoScarf.com, but I use the max suggested stitch count (which is 60 stitches) and I usually knit it on a size 8 or 9 needle. The fringing is another foot long on either side, and I bunch all seven colours together for each knot.

What do you think? I've got an Adipose on my shoulder wanting me to make plushies, but I'm working on Despicable Me minions at the moment, so I haven't gotten around to them yet.

I have these two little guys in the house. I am also in the middle of building a Dalek Sec as well.

*disgusting, undignified drooling...*

There's chatter about getting a TARDIS for photo op reasons at the Wedding. As an excuse to actually make it, a DVD case/cabinet/whatever other excuse will work? I still like the idea of having it hiding a back door to a house. "IT'S BIGGER ON THE INSIDE!!!" because that joke never gets old. Unless you're Rory Williams.

We need all types of crafters. Your scarf is amazing. I'm sure you'd be able to find many likeminded scarfmakers, and Doctor Who has a LOT of scarves!

Encouraging! I'll have to post pics of my minions. I've made three so far, and I've managed to get the gloves to even have the two fingers and a thumb. Faces are hard, though, because I'm doing crochet amigurumi, and I'm not the best at embroidery. If I keep the expressions simple, is not so bad. Kind of embarrassed when I made my first prototype and went to the trouble of making two seperate eye pieces for the goggles and realised they're joined. *facepalm* Would have been much easier.

And the wife asked me to do a plushie Alice from the 1951 Disney animated film, it's coming out rather nicely, actually.

I'M GLAD SOMEONE LIKES IT. If everyone else hates me, I'm blaming you for encouraging me to stay.

Lol. You also make cunning hats. Work with what you're good at. I am still working out a few ideas/builds myself. But I bet a good, accurate Baker Scard would be good trade clout.

but if you wanna set yourself apart, do one that hasn't been done.

the first Doctor's scarf hasn't been tackled much.
