Show your Dr. Who props!

Figured I might as well post some pictures of my prototype Baker sonic from the run that I'm doing.

Thanks Doctor Octoroc! Still learning. Just found out about some even better looking crackle paint products and technique I have to try out soon.

Perfetto is actually one that I had wanted to try. For this one it's krylon gold crackle base coat and Montana blue crackle top coat.

Ah okay. Well it's finicky but if you get it right it's a solid crackle. I've just been unable to get a nice thick crackle with it - it always ends up more grainy like this:

But that's probably due to the size of the sponge I was using or perhaps over dabbing on the surface leaving a finer texture than I was going for. But I know others have gotten the right 9th/10th sonic look using Perfetto.

Don't use a sponge. Just use your finger.

Oh man, your right. What did you use for the base coat?

It was a few coats of Testor's enamel.

I hadn't thought of that - I was just following the instructions. You can see near the top end that it looks okay but it gets more 'blurred' at the bottom and especially around the ridges. I'll have to remember that if I ever attempt a 9th/10th again. It worked nicely on other applications - I made a pair of Edward Scissorhands gauntlets for Halloween a number of years back and used it on the leather parts that were made of foam to give it texture.

Timelord Staser from the season finale Hell Bent.
This is my replica I build of the Staser the Doctor used to shoot the General to make him regenerate. After watching the episode Hell bent I loved the design of the gun, got all the reference images I could but had so much on I've only recently been able to get round to it. Main body is EVA foam cut and moulded to shape painted up and small plastic test tubes and aluminium tubing to add the details. Let's know what you all think.

Certainly makes life easier! There was an even more obvious use of toys in S9 but no-one seems to have picked up on it...

Was it the beat up/aged sonic from Magician's Apprentice?

Edit: oops, no Nick posted a closeup that show it to be a metal hero...
