Show your custom Lightsabers!

My ONLY regret is when I finished I realized I should have used the Zeiss Ikon that I have to do the DarkMommy-- then it would have been paired brands. I love how the two light ones are minicams and have the same finish and styling. Oh well. :)

Yeah well-- years of lurking seeing what you, Veektor, Anubis, THD, Talyn,Poppapalps and a couple others have done gave me every idea I've had.

Thanks guys! I'm waiting to get that top half of that Graflex back so that I can get a nice display made for them, that way they actually get the love and attention that they deserve

Seth, How do you come up with so many cool vintage camera parts?? I keep an eye on ebay but you always have some really nice stuff.

Half of what I have I was lucky to score 20 years ago for next to nothing. I scored a major haul at a time when people had just learned about the Graflex. When I got mine it came in a box with a dozen other flashguns that were mostly worthless.

On top of that, a month or so ago I decided to drop a decent chunk on a lot of parts that was similar to my own.

Beyond that-- I've seen what other people have done on here and I just set up eBay alerts for similar parts and hope to get lucky. I will share one secret weapon-- Etsy often resells various vintage things and those sellers aren't always as locked into the trends of how things sell on eBay.

My biggest "skill" at getting things though is actually not a good thing to have: very low impulse control with occasional bouts of disposable cash flow.

I haven't priced out any of my builds cause I swap parts and tear things down to components so often it would be hard to say.

Glad to see lots of people getting use out of those Magnavox Odyssey game boards. When I foudn the cool pattern those had, it was simply because i had it laying around and wasnt happy with the boards I was using.

I'm not sure whose custom lightsaber it was (this was years ago on the RPF) but they used part of an antique fire extinguisher for it. Anyone remember it? it was a beautiful piece.

You struck gold there-- they are awesome.

Ever cracked open any other old game cartridges? I've been thinking of busting open an old Atari game:

I tried a few Atari games before I tried the Magnavox, the ones I had looked pretty boring.

As a lightsaber enthusiast, this discussion is fascinating.

As a videogame enthusiast, I feel like I'm listening to Dr. Mengele discuss what he's going to do with his patients' organs. X_x

Lol, well I'm a vintage game collector too. I didnt destroy them to look at the pin connector, you can see them pretty will inside the opening. For the record NES boards would be pretty decent ones too, though theyre nothing special.

The cartridges and calculators I snagged for boards were all super cheap and ubiquitous so I didn't feel too bad. I don't know if I could tear up an Exactra...
