I've let my lightsaber building sit on hold for half a year due to a bunch of different factors including that it was damned cold in my garage shop over the winter. I started up again recently with a personal project that's been waiting at a point I was happy with. This TCSS parts build is going to get the guts of a Xeno3 pixel core when I get around to ordering one. I've prepped the control box using my drill press and a cut off portion of an older VHC core that has the same button, charger, and screw layout. I'll cut into the body below, beyond the one screw hole I cut to temp mount it, once I get the core to install. This is the realization of my imagined childhood lightsaber from the 1970's and '80's and the TCSS parts match my imagination from back then beautifully.

Thanks! I want to go back and do it again!
The experience was certainly fun, and the next year when I watched my kids do it, but I don't think I can shell out $250 again. I like my saber, but it does definitely feel more like a toy next to the rest of my collection.

Had a friend over the other day who really wanted to build his own saber. So we raided my vintage parts and knocked this out in a couple hours. He directed the build and I did legwork. He was super stoked by the end of it.

I had a bunch of left over bits and pieces from some lightsabers I built recently, so I took those parts and made a ROTS style "stunt" lightsaber.

I like it! I've been a Star Wars fan since May of 1977 and, while I've always enjoyed seeing lightsaber designs, sometimes I think people are so creative that they can't quite tell when to stop with the details, and the end result barely looks like what it's supposed to be. The relative simplicity of your design here is greatly appreciated by this fan. (y)(y)

Not been on here for a while, some absolute amazing builds on here lately, might just have to get my hand dirty

Also my custom blade plug was kind of a failure. I had piece of copper pipe secured to the blade plug to imitate the Graflex ring. It looked cool, however I have to take it off and put it in the blade on every time. And it doesn't tighten down on the blade well. I have the idea of getting a 1” to 7/8" stainless adapter that I could heat stain instead.

In the meantime I've decided that ROTJ Vader style blade plug looks pretty cool too. I think I need some black paint on the inside ring or the blade holder. Looks too bare.

looks prety cool... is there any way to clock the emitter?

There's several way of clocking parts. Sometimes a little sanding on the female threads. Or sometimes chassis disc (if you have one between the parts.) Or they make little shimming rings. In my case I ordered all parts at the same time and requested they set the box 90° from the "bunny ears" on the left as looking down at the emitter. (Like the ESB Graflex.)

nice thanks.

I’ve been wanting to post these for a while. I used to be big into sabers, but then I got burned out and sold most of my collection. It’s been at least 15 years, and I thought I was done. But this past October, after binge-watching Ahsoka for the umpteenth time, I suddenly felt a need to start designing and building again, and buying some really good replicas. I needed a new “therapy” , after getting burned out on Legos and such…….

Most of these are machined from solid aluminum. I’m not a big fan of electronics. Especially when accuracy is compromised for gimmicks. And especially when it’s too easy to accidentally change the sounds or colors on the damn things…… I mean, really, why don’t they just have one color? Or an option to lock them in. I do have several Baselit, and one Pixel, but that’s only because the price made sense, versus an empty hilt.

My “old school” customs. Turns out most of my older customs were crap. I look at old pictures, and I can’t believe that was my collection. There are a few I wish I still had, but for the most part, I’m glad I got rid of them.

These are the only ones I kept-

My new collection.
The Inquisitor sabers are just 3D printed, which I’m not a fan of. I’m a machinist- I like metal. But I’m not paying what I paid for these……for one saber. Not accurate, but as far as painted decorations go, these look just fine. And they were fun to build. Still have a couple more on the way…...
