Awesome costumes everyone!
Klingons are known for boasting about themselves, as a fan of the Klingons I've done my fare share of boasting over the years. What you are going to see here is the character I have portrayed for about 20 years. I have always changed my character as I changed, but I always tried to keep his attitude as open minded (like myself) yet solid and strong as a warrior's. While I won't fill up a page with me droning on about the 20 years of achievements I have accomplished with this character, I will give you all a quick description and let my photos speak for themselves.
Here is a lonely
beq right after he joined the Imperial Navy 20 years ago. The costume was made from place mats, plumber's tape, and a handmade set of ridges. It was something my father and I worked on together. Even though what I wear now is far more superior that my first uniform, I still cherish this image as it was an achievement that I was proud of. Not to mention the bonding experience my father and I had. He's no longer with us, but I can still see the look of pride on his face when saw my confidence build with this character.
This next photo is with a pair of ridges that I had on hand. I wasn't happy with them (as they were a cheap purchase to replace my long used set that had rotted from time and wear). I did a photo shoot in front of blue sheet. My character is known in fandom as an ambassador and a lover of the sauce.
I styled my ambassador's costume off of a mixture from the cocktail culture from the 60's (the smoking jacket) and my real life involvement in a fraternal organization.
I then replaced my replacement with a better looking set of ridges. I wanted to change my ridges because of two things, the first one was that the ridge I bought was being mass produced and sold, so I wanted a more unique looking ridge for my character. The other reason is that I wanted something that looked closer to the founder of the Klingon house that I am now in charge of. If you've paid attention, Klingons who are related, have similar ridges, much like inherited traits we get from our family.
I even got my wife involved with my Klingon role play. What you see here is a photo of us at a con together. I wish I had that uniform on hand. It is still with the leathersmith as he fixes a few parts that needed some attention. I may end up selling it as the padding that was used in it is too thick for this climate. Thankfully I was up north when I was wearing it and I was comfortable. My wife put together her uniform over a weekend (it was a spur of the moment) and has a newer dress she is constructing to go with my ambassador's costume. Ironically, she is using the old retired ridges (upside down). I will be sculpting a set for her soon so she'll have something nicer. I think she wants to go with a subtle
Azetbur look.
I wanted to share this image because the gal who took it did a great job.
Finally, I decided to try on my old uniform. Sadly It doesn't fit anymore, but it stayed on long enough to snap this cool pic.
Recently, I trimmed my beard down to a friendly mutton so that it would reflect my current mood with myself and character. I felt that the beard was nice, but not only hot in the summertime around here, but a nice collector of food (eating pancakes and waffles kinda sucked). So after 7 years, I trimmed it and now this is what I look like:
I thank you for taking the time to look at my pics. I'd like to see more Klingons besides Kehlan (Howdy Kehlan!)
May Kahless guide your hand to glory and my your name be sung with honor.
Qapla'!
