Show off your RE weathered Obi sabers!

It's nice the static ones come with a cube drilled already. That ain't easy to do. I've seen some horrifying photos of cubes that have exploded as they're being drilled. & those were on REAL vintage taps !

Yeah, and I don’t want the hole to chip the chrome finish.. think I’m gonna go with a blue FX...

I just used aluminum foil tape from the hardware store, couldn't tell you what brand or anything. I just eyeballed the shape and used a wooden skewer to pick and poke it into the shape I wanted.
Thanks man I will get down to the hardware store this weekend:)

i destroyed my first vintage trying to re-install a new D ring. I still have the poor thing on a shelf. I also, because of this, keep my 6/10 condition real knob on a shelf, and I put one of roman's chromed aluminum ones on there just in case the steel overrides the plastic during handling or setting it on a table.

Roman's new knobs are freaking unbelievable!

Thought I would keep this thread going bit more, so much good stuff on here....great work all.

Got my weathered / unweathered kit from Roman (Roman you are the man!) a while back and have been working away on it slowly. still need to sand back the grenade on the damage I did to it and re blue..... but its coming a long. More to follow:)

Will sit nicely next to my Mythos Figure
Added some more weathering to the grenade, does anyone know how to or if there is a way to seal in the rust?

As the majority of weathered Kenobi lightsabers follow the graflex version, I thought I’d try something new. I really like the streamlined and more refined ROTS Kenobi lightsaber, so I went down that route. Using the Master Replicas for continuity with my pristine version.

I tried to make the weathering as realistic as possible through heavy use, wear and environment. I kept the hilt polished on the belt slide due to Obi Wan wearing it constantly and the movement against his clothing continuously polishing it. I kept the AS wheel polished as it looks like that in ANH, my theory being it was of a harder metal within the real universe. The emitter always bothered me in trying to make this look like a real world item rather than a prop. So I popped a lense in there and weathered that too. That bit still bothers me, but until another idea represents itself, I’ll stick with it. I still need to add encrusted sand into some of the more inaccessible crevices.

I like it! Dare to be different

I need to retrace my steps yesterday to see what I used. I first used lemon juice to give an etched and frosted look like someone did on another thread, but all this did was take some of the shine off and all of the weathering Roman did. I didn't expect that result and went to work using heat, scorctching, salt etching with a battery and brine type mixture. Heating it up again and letting a bit of dirty oil bubble ajd burn off pf it. The result was this.
I also added a fake weld on the booster.

I noticed the booster weld, very nice

Thank you! It was fun and I will continue to tinker. I haven't made my mind up about aluminum tape on the clamp. Something about the chronicles pics still doesn't ring as conclusive to me. A glare can really play tricks with photos.

I’m always up in the air with the tape as well
