Sherlock Coat opinions/info?

There is a website with all the wardrobe and props with the official brands and all. Do you know it? Found it yesterday.

I've looked around it, but the actual Sherlock items are very limited. I only saw the ID for his purple shirt (and was then able to tell that his other shirts are also D&G) and didn't see any of his suits.

Also as far as I can tell, their ID of the Paul Smith scarf is dead wrong. I've spent a lot of time on google image search and scanning through all 6 episodes and he wears the striped scarf in every single one. He doesn't wear a solid blue scarf anywhere that I've found.

Oh wow, this one is better. I was referring before to the Wear Sherlock Tumblr. Still wrong on the scarf, though.

I just watched a few shots for you.. there are two scarves. In season one there's a dark navy blue scarf, possibly a bit damaged/weathered for the show. In season two, it's a dark, lightly striped, scarf. Barely visible.
I took some screenshots, and the last one, is from season two, with the stripes.

Now, this pic is from season two, notice the slightly darker stripes? That's the scarf you're looking for, instead of the season one scarf.

I'm almost positive that season 1 scarf still has stripes, just maybe not as dark/more worn out. And the tassels on both scarves are different than the one pictured from Paul Smith.

Well you may believe so, but I've seen several closeups now, and the scarf in season one is a washed out solid blue. The only stripes I could get into, would be the fabric of the scarf. The season two scarf seems a different kind of fabric in a few shots. More like some wool/fleece mashup.

Seing them next to eachother, I'm convinced there are two scarves.

Though if it is the brand, I don't know.
It seems the brand for season two is a hugo boss one though.
Season 2 scarf

Here's what Sherlockology says about the S1 scarf.
Paul Smith navy cashmere scarfwith tasseled ends. Measurements: 164 cm length, 32cm width. The scarf worn in the first series of Sherlock was vintage Paul Smith and very worn in. Although it is no longer available, Paul Smith does sell a new equivalent here.

True that. It also isn't available anymore. Fact is that tere are two scarves and by the end of this year maybe three. *can't wait* :D

Maybe a way of knitting. I always thought it was more greyishblue. But it's certainly not the same one as from season 2.

Great picture. Definitely some kind of faded plaid, and it's not knit, it's woven. I would guess the pattern might even be printed.

Ah yes, sorry. Woven. English is not my first language so I took the word that looked the most like it :D

Hi, everybody - I'm fairly new here. To be honest, I've been a lurker in the shadows here, but now, because this thread has perked my interest, I've joined - hello!

I've been searching for a coat like Sherlock's for some time now - and I came across one that was in this thread, the Cosplaysky version (Sherlock Holmes Wool Cape Coat Cosplay Costume | CosplaySky.com).
Is it accurate enough? If I were to buy it (which I don't see happening anytime soon) what changes would I need to request to them to make it more accurate? Are all the details there?

Thank you.

That's a long discussion. Accurate enough is a case by case basis. Is it accurate enough for you? I would personally be very unhappy with that coat, but others would like it just fine. As for special requests, I'm sure they do some, but companies like that can never get everything right. Even the good ones, Baron and Magnoli, can't flawlessly match details, especially on the first go.

If you want to give it a shot though, here's a starting point:

Cuffs are too tall, belt is too skinny, buttons are completely awful, hand warmers appear to be too high and too far out, button and pocket placement are off, and the big one that they can't fix: the lapel roll line is sloppy.

My coat has arrived! I love it. It feels a good weight, lining is soft and wonderful, the collar stands nicely, the pockets are brilliant, the fabric looks great and the skirt/pleats are just downright great.

It's hard to see it properly hanging up and these photos really don't do it justice. When I manage to get better pictures (hopefully of me wearing it rather than on a hanger) I shall post those too.

I'm pretty pleased with how it has come out. A couple of minor things here and there but I'm so happy with it.

Tell me what you think... it's been a long time coming since finding the fabric!

Looks pretty nice overall, looking forward to seeing it on. The one thing, which might just be the way it's hanging, it looks like the buttons on the belt aren't equidistant from the side seams.
