Sherlock Coat opinions/info?

Oh... and on another note my tailor has just informed me that my coat is ready to ship and will be with me in a week or so with any luck! I'll keep you up to date and take plenty of pictures when I get it (pictures that will later help me sell it on should the coat turn out awful! haha)

That looks wonderful! Really good job... the coat hangs well and looks such a nice pattern the fabrics come off really well. It looks very photogenic!... can I ask... is that your hair? or is it a wig... if it's your hair then wonderful and if it's not can you tell me where you got the wig from?

Thanks so much! It's not my hair - I wish, haha. I got the wig on ebay awhile back, but I can't recall which seller, I'm sorry. I did quite a lot of styling and trimming after I got it, as well, which was fun....

Ah damn... ok well if you manage to find out the seller that'd be great but if you could perhaps do me a favour if you get time... could you look for a wig on ebay that might be similar to the one you bought so I can style it? I've found a couple but I really don't know what'd be good. Is yours real hair or synthetic? Black or brown? Thanks for your time!

I'm very excited to say that today my sister was at Denver Fabrics looking for something else entirely for me and I thought at the last second to ask her to look for Sherlock fabric. The stuff she found isn't screen accurate, but the read from a distance is excellent, I think the weight is good, and it even has the little stray fibers and stuff of the original. She picked up 5 yards of it for me. When I get it I'll take pictures. The plan now is to finish the coat and pick up the scarf and suit in time for Convergence in Minneapolis, and my girlfriend will be making herself an Irene Adler costume to match it.

That's great news! Take lots of photos; can't wait to see the fabric and then the coat as it's created! =D As well as both you and your girlfriend in the finished ensemble, of course!

Will do. Once I start making the coat/assembling the rest of the costume, I'll start my own build thread.

Could you also post information about the fabric? Denver Fabrics has some online and if the fabric is convincing enough I might see if I can get it that way.

I don't think they have it online or I probably would have spotted it months ago, but I'll have a look.

EDIT: Just checked, not online. God I hate their website.

I have just been sent a teaser photo of my coat by my tailor. ^_^ To say I'm excited is a slight understatement.

Got my fabric. It's not as separated as some of the other options, but I really like it, and the weight, color, and drape are perfect.

Any suggestions where to get a good Series 1 or 2 scarf?
I have a navy blue scarf that is too deep in color. The one used in season 1 looks like a faded blue to my eyes.

That fabric looks like it's going to make a hell of a good coat. I can't wait to see your progress!

The fabric is super soft, too.

Jimmy, I just picked up a navy blue scarf on ebay, its a Croft and Barrow for $9 buy it now. It might be a little dark, but it's acrylic and you could probably wash it with a tiny bit of bleach.

It looks like he did a good job, but one of the rules of this forum is that we're not supposed to talk about or link to him.

Since I am new and found this forum in searching for a Sherlock coat I did not intend to advertise but was only seeking advice and opinion. It has been helpful, so far. Is there an opinion as to whether Milford will market the coat again for the the final season of Sherlock?

I would say it is highly unlikely but I have no contacts that know for certain. All I do know is that if they were to do a re-release it will be far far far too expensive because they know how popular the coat is.

Good luck in your Sherlock coat hunt... keep us all updated on what you do!
