Sherlock Coat opinions/info?

A lot of it (read: most of it), again, is based on jessamygriffin's tutorial and notes, and then I sort of end up adjusting some things to fit a smaller person (aka me
). There's also a great deal of eyeballing going on, and looking in the mirror to see if it looks right! =PThat probably isn't terribly helpful, is it?
Most of the fitting was done in the muslin. That was the long and tedious and frustrating process. At least two drafts for every piece (5+ for those bloody sleeves). But it's worth the frustration in the end to make it the way you want it, y'know?
This is my first real tailoring project, so I'm sort of fudging it as I go along, haha. So glad I've got my grandmother to help me.

Hi... yeah he got back to me this morning and says he isn't prepared to sell the fabric separately unfortunately.
Well he actually works for a company in China that produces some of the cheap replica coats for the cosplay people on eBay. I should have guessed from how similiar the coat pictures were to the eBay ones i've seen. We shall see how good they are when I get my coat!

Hi guys. I've been a lurker here for some time and I'm amazed at what people have been producing. Since I have no experience in tailoring I've been looking for the most accurate replica of the original Milford. mooneye63 linked to the "sherlockcoat" on Facebook (see post #78 on page 4 of this forum) and it appears there's been some progress on it. There are photos of a prototype compared to the original Belstaff and I'm seriously impressed.

Alright, then. Hello everyone, I'm officially getting aboard now.
Jessamygriffin's 'A Study in Coat' convinced me, about two weeks back, that making the coat was not only some weird idea of mine but that there were others 'out there' who had some experience and were willing to discuss and share - short, that it was indeed possible
Leaves the problem of gathering the supplies, and that's when I got here and found your lovely discussion. Apart from the buttons the fabric is obviously the biggest problem, so I wanted to ask you what you think of this one here:

He wants about 20 serious buyers before he completes the production.
He has the original fabric used by Belstaff and has one of the original coats to hand to replicate it in S, M, L & XL (basic sizes like Belstaff did not custom made).

Since I may not get a hold of a decent camera again anytime soon, or after I get the buttonholes done, I'll toss up a photo of me in the coat as it is now. In fairly complete Sherlock cosplay, too, since that was the point of my making the coat! I'm glad you guys here like it. ^^
There is a decent looking replica on Ebay for $200 - custom tailored.
I asked about the fabric and was informed it is a "medium thickness", though I'm not sure how that looks or feels.
I have a lot of other things already in motion so I won't get the cash to invest in the high-end repro.
Anybody have experience with the Ebay replica I speak of?

That looks wonderful! Really good job... the coat hangs well and looks such a nice pattern the fabrics come off really well. It looks very photogenic!... can I ask... is that your hair? or is it a wig... if it's your hair then wonderful and if it's not can you tell me where you got the wig from?!
I have dealings with a few people and contacts on ebay but there are so very many rubbish replicas available you're gunna need to be a little bit more specific as to which replica you're talking about... could you possibly post a link to the ebay item in question and I can see if I can offer help. Thanks!
