Sherlock Coat opinions/info?

Hello
I appear to have made two mistakes before buying the cosplaysky/cosarcade Sherlock coat. The first mistake was not reading through this thread beforehand. The second was actually buying the damn thing. Shoddy quality, but good customer service.
Now, after reading through it appears you've all agreed upon the buyitjnow coat as the go to, but for £120 there or thereabouts, am I getting a properly constructed coat for my money, or a cosplay piece with minimal construction? I understand it won't be of Magnoli quality but the cosplaysky coat didn't even have chest fusing or any apparent construction. Just wondering if the other coat is the same. Reviews and feedback necessary. Thanks

For those of you who have been wondering what has taken place in this thread, here is a brief explanation.

Whenever a discussion turns to banned member C.T. (Celestial Toy Store), the personal attacks directed at members, the staff and this entire community are not far behind. The childish playground antics and drama queen behavior exhibited by him and his "followers" wore out its welcome on the RPF long ago.

So let's just leave the discussion of that individual, his products (and whatever the latest drama associated with those products may be) off of the RPF.

Thanks.

Can anyone recommend a tailor to get one custom made at? Preferably one that would use fabric I supplied. Thanks!

For those interested, here's a coat from tssy2005

If anyone wants any photos of particular details just let me know :)

Do you think you could get a photo of the jacket with the collar folded down, and with it closed, with and without the collar down? I'd love to use it for dailywear aswell, but I can't quite carry off the whole Sherlock look.

Here you go :) I think done up with the collar up works best for me out of the 4

Thanks, yeah, I'll propably get mine shortened and just wear it buttoned with the collar up if I buy one. It doesn't really suit the coat to be worn with the collar down, thanks for the pictures again :)

Hey guys,

Of the coats currently available, which do folks think is the best? I'm interested in one that could be worn as a regular daily wear coat. I expect the Magnoli is likely the best from an accuracy and quality perspective, but the price is very steep IMHO. Any thoughts on the various products available on eBay or - should I avoid those?

Anthongygrey - what do you think of the Tssy2005 that you have there?

The tssy2005/buyitjnow coats have seen positive reviews from people here, it's probably the best option for < $1000. They're from eBay btw as those names are the names of the eBay sellers. There's more than one because the company that produces it has multiple accounts.

Did you send measurements wearing a suit or a sweater or something? Did you also send a length measurement or did you just let them interpret the length?

The measurements I sent them were just to my body, maybe an inch less in a few places because of the way I like my clothes.
Length wise I left them to it, just provided my height. I was speaking to Aposstle on facebook earlier this evening and it seems to be a thing that they make it slightly longer than needed so you may want to specify.

Ahh good to know, the extra length is probably there on purpose since it gives people the option of getting it hemmed vs sending it back for being too short.

When you say you sent smaller measurements in some places, where exactly are you referring? And just to clarify you were wearing regular clothes when taking measurements right?

Bare body measurements, no clothes, otherwise I knew it'd be too big for the sort of fit I actually wanted.
I think the only ones I made slightly less were my chest and arm length.

So if I were to order a Tssy2005 coat, can you give me some tips on things to ask for, for best accuracy and wearability?

Thanks in advance!

The current build is pretty accurate thanks to requests by previous users who've bought from them. You may want to ask for the back button holes to be black/dark grey not red.

Yeah that's the one detail I didn't realize they'd alter. I am going to have to make those back belt buttonholes the right color myself.

You can just ask them to make them black I'm pretty sure, since it's a custom coat they'll have to sew those holes to order anyway
