Sculpting Two Bios

Haha! I want to work on it tonight, but I gotta pack and get to bed early. Possibly one more night of sculpting, but don't hold your breath...

Maaan that's coming out great Jason!! Holidays Schmolidays! Stay home and sculpt for us. :D

kudos to you for being able to start over on a part. it's not always easy to throw clay back on after you spend some time working a part.

The more I work on this, the more I realize that my lines need a lot of work to get to where I want them.

The red lines indicate all the areas that still need work done:

what else can I say that hasn't been said, fantastic work Jason and you have an eye for detail.

Looking forwars to more updates.....

Thanks for all the encouragement! I tried using the 99% alcohol but I prefer to keep using my fingers as much as possible since I really like to feel the clay instead.

You're doing an incredibly job smoothing that out with just your fingers Jason.

Try using Plain ol' Dollar Store Nail Polish Remover 100% Acetone(no fu fu scent). It's super cheap and is about 3x-4x as effective as alcohol. I fold cotton pads in half, soak them with the acetone squeese out the excess and go town. I use q tips for the areas that the pad can't reach. After that airs out a little, I then used the 99% alcohol to smooth that even further(which isn't much). If you can deal with your room smelling like a nail salon for a little bit you'll be golded.

99% on those blue automotive shop paper towels, working in circles like buffing a car, works well, too, from what I've read...

Well there's no turning back now - I came back from Calgary with $660 worth of Smooth-On supplies!

I still haven't used the 99% alcohol for smoothing - I want to see how smooth I can get it with just my fingers. I also realize that my sculpt will be very different in the eyes and where the dome ridges meet both upper cheekbones. I've revised the eyes about 10 times and I am finally happy with them as they are.

Thanks cars66! Lee, I'm going to do the same as Paul did when he put diff colored pigments in each of the 3-4 silicone layers to help me make sure that each layer is sufficiently coated.

And holy crap my fingers hurt today. Lee, I'm going to try your technique of using the butane torch and 99$ alcohol to smooth. I should really get you on video and see how you do it so that you can impart your wisdom over my way! ;)
