Sculpting Two Bios

I went back to working on the P1 Stunt. This one is difficult only because I have my P1 Stunt beside me and I see every mistake I'm making. I'm slowly getting the lines where I want them...just need to keep on referring back to the calipers to make sure they match. I also got another light to put on the other side so that the clay is lit up as much as possible from both sides.

Here's how it started out:

And where it's at now:

Hot damn! Thats coming along amazingly! (y) I like the first picture, it looks like all your other Bio's and sculpts are watching him...very nice :D

What have I told you about using my trophy room in your photo's? lol

Thats awesome work you got going there - FEED ME MORE!

[sup]looking real good there buddy![/sup]

[sup]i want to start sculpting my own Bio but i honestly have no idea where to start from...[/sup]
[sup]and i have so many ideas, but it looks like you know where you are headed with this sculpt![/sup]

[sup]cant wait to see the finished product![/sup]

Sorry for the slow updates Richard...I only get 2-4 hours a week to work on these. Hopefully I'll get more done tonight!

Go to a hardware store and tell them you need a thick and heavy gauge copper wire. It's heavy, it stinks when you get it on your hands, but it works beautifully. If you can't find any, I would be more than willing to send you some if you want to pay the shipping ;)
Thank you for the offer. Let me check the stores around here and I'll get back with you on that.

They're not watching the sculpt, they're watching J to make sure he doesn't **** it up! Looking great, brother! You gonna put the infamous dent in the forehead...

I took a look at the Bio this morning and realized that the eyes were way off. I've been staring at it from down below - gotta remember to change my angle all the time to see it from every POV.

Anywho, you can clearly see the eyes are off kilter:

I filled in the left side and started over:

Here's a side by side:

I've been smoothing it with my fingers so far since I don't like using my homemade rakes. My fingers do a much quicker job and I can totally feel all the imperfections and bumps and quickly correct them with my thumbs. My thumbs have blisters on them but DAMN it feels good to sculpt! I highly encourage anyone who is even remotely thinking about sculpting to buy some clay and give it a shot. Especially if you can draw or paint. Its frustrating at times, but its so cool to be able to create something with just your bare hands...

I've decided this will not be an EXACT replica of the P1 Stunt, but I hope to come damn close.

Ffs another thread I missed somehow grrrrr.

Really liking both J , but the 2nd really has a edgy evil feel to it, not sure why I think that but I like it none the less.

Let us know how you smooth chavant as that's a question that pops up alot , and there's different thoughts and ideas on it.

You're making some great progress on the two. I like how your custom one on the right has P1 and P2 elements at work. It's a nice balance. I realize, It's still a ways off from done but I'd like to see a P2 bio to the right of it. it would look like the P1 stunt is morphing into a P2 from left to right.. maybe I'm just crazy

.

Keep up the awesome sculpting Jason!! Turn those blisters in to calluses!

It really helps to step away for a couple days...I come back to look at it and all the flaws are blatantly right there!

Right cheek needs to be curved in more and dome needs to be bigger:

The red lines show that my angles aren't slanted enough, so the eyes need to be redone. Plus the mouth needs to be longer:

The Bio was waaaaay too wide and the eyes were way off, so I figured I would slap more clay on, fill in the eyes and start over

I trimmed down the sides (jaw and cheeks) a LOT

Img_1669.jpg

Then I redid the eyes and carved in the basic lines of the Bio

NOW it's where I want it to be for the basic overall shape. There won't be any updates for about a week and half since I'm on holidays and then on a training course, so...more to come later!
