Save Warehouse 13!!!!!!!!!

Exactly. I mean, SyFy is notorious for killing shows at the 5-season mark. I think their budget just doesn't allow for going to 6 seasons, and by 5 seasons you have enough for syndication anyway, so why bother? you've squeezed every dollar out of the show that you can, so it's time to move on.

I'd have less of a problem with that if they didn't REPEATEDLY tell shows at the last second, or tell them "We're renewing you" and then say "Nah, changed our minds."

If I wrote for a show on the SyFy channel, I'd write single-arc seasons that tie up each season with no loose ends. That way, whenever tehy canceled it, at least the story would be done.

Yeah, they're really bad with the whole, "You're good for one more season" bit and at the last minute saying, "Sorry, we're not renewing you after all". They've done that with every scripted show they've had except for BSG, love or hate the ending at least RDM got smart and chose to end the show on his own terms instead of actually believing that SyFy would have actually given them a S5 before pulling the rug out from underneath them. If I were a show runner/creator for any scripted show on SyFy I'd write it with a 4 - 5 season run in mind have it solid plotted out for 4 seasons but leaving it just open enough so that if SyFy got generous and actually greenlit a S5 I could actually do it but no more than that. Hopefully the team at WH13 have learned from past SyFy shows and already how they plan on ending the show and we won't get left with either a rushed ending ala Eureka or a cliff hanger like Farscape.

I'm with Sheldon on this one, why did they cancel Alphas. Could never understand how W13 got so far.

Well, I'm disappointed. Seemed like it was getting good again. And what's this about a spin-off? A spin-off suggests the show was popular, so why cancel?

Meanwhile, at SyFy Channel headquarters...

Exactly, they should just rename that STUPID channel again, from Sci-Fi to SyFy and now to "NO SyFy" or perhaps "SyFy?" :facepalm

SG-1 was the only show that really wrapped up in any sense. And that was, I think, because they had independent funding from MGM.

It was able to wrap but only because they were able to get a made for TV movie to wrap things up, it wasn't able to do it during its TV run because they were fully expecting a 11th season (which would have been their 6th on SyFy) until SyFy pulled the rug out from underneath them at the last minute. So far, with the exception of BSG, no scripted show on SyFy has wrapped up the way they intended; SG-1 & Farscape were able to wrap up with made from TV movies or a mini-series, all of the others either wrapped really quickly at the very end of their last season or simply just ended on a cliff hanger with no resolution, and in the case of BSG the only reason why it was able to wrap up as intended was because RDM was smart enough to end the series on his own terms at season 4 instead of waiting for SyFy to pull their usual stunts on him.

You know where Warehouse 13 lost me? When it became a heavy drama instead of a show about people hunting artifacts - it started in Season 2, but didn't get bad until Season 3. Obviously this is completely a personal opinion, but I tuned in to watch two people hunt artifacts, not get into all kinds of personal drama.

My issues with Warehouse 13:
- Cast grew too large. Sorry Jynx, HG, and even Claudia - The show should have stayed with Pete, Myka, and Artie (with the occasional appearance by Ms. Fredricks).

- Character Goofy Swings - The two biggest offenders are Pete and Claudia. Pete has seriously gotten to the point of it's harder for me to believe that the Secret Service would hire him than it is to believe magical artifacts exist. At least, though Pete was pretty consistent - I can't stand Claudia's "I'm goofy! Now I'm emo!"

- Artifacts - Remember when the show used to be about hunting artifacts? The episode was focused around one artifact, we'd get a history lesson on the person the artifact is embodying, and Pete and Myka would have to get into the minds of both the artifact originator and the person using it. Now, the artifact is there and the person using it just wields it. Artifacts used to have side effects as well.

- H.G. Wells - I cannot stand this character and her effect on the show. If you try to destroy all humanity with an artifact, YOU DON'T GET TO CONTINUE WORKING AT THE TOP SECRET ORGANIZATION!!!! They introduced her as a villain, then they thought we should all just accept her as "someone who's really good at heart" - NO. I also hated it that the other characters were so easily won over - especially Myka! Myka should be holding a grudge to the day she died!

I really wish they would have re-focused their efforts on what made the show great in the beginning.

Right. . . A 6 episode S5 to wrap things up with, now where did we hear that before? I'll believe it when I see it and, sadly, I don't really expect to see it, not if Eureka was any indicator.

Did SyFy lie about a shorter season before?

Warehouse 13 is the best sci-fi show on SyFy. So of course they would cancel it. And for what? The show doesn't seem to have the highest budget. Surely not Caprica levels. Warehouse 13 is just a fun show. Its seasons are short too. After Warehouse 13 the only thing notable on SyFy will be Haven. And I'm surprised they didn't cancel that show after last season's ending.

Exactly my thoughts! I LOVE seasons one and two! Three began to lose it for me, exactly as you described. I wacthed the first half of season four, but got so bored with it, I never went back for the second half. For me, the series has already wrapped up.

To many characters in the mix, and the whole Artie resetting the universe thing was a push too far... IMHO, and only mine!

The Lost Room had a different, if you'll forgive the pun, vibe to it. Warehouse 13 was supposed to be the "top men" behind the warehouse at the end of raiders of the Lost Ark. It was supposed to be a campy and fun throwback to the same Indiana Jones style serial. the Lost Room was a serious drama.

The greatest guarantee of failure is when you start out as one type and try to be the other.

You should probably start watching it again. Tonight's episode featured historic context for an artifact and nasty side effects. Also, if you didn't hear, they totally culled the cast.

I never stopped watching it. :)

Last week's episode proved two things:
1 - They have too many things going on at the same time. Each one of those stories could have been a separate episode.
2 - They could easily go back to the good old days without much effort. The Noir story was very good and felt like the good old days.
