RS Propmasters Biker Scout helmet - BEAUTIFUL

Is there ever an issue with the traditional method of two halves developing a crack along the seam? It always seemed like a flimsy design that wouldn't be good long term.
I can say first-hand that it’s a possibility. The first scout I received from RS when they were doing the signature run had a visible split on the back, where the two halves joined. Not sure if it was assembled like that or if it was damaged in shipping, and I never heard of anyone else having the issue. My replacement was seamless.

I received this today after they added a few more weathering tweaks to match up with the helmet as it appears on the Kenner Biker Scout card. That photo on the card lit a fire in me 37 1/2 years ago and I've never found anything to satisfy the quest for owning a movie accurate replica of this helmet until today. It actually feels like having a genuine movie prop in the collection and I am so very grateful to RS Propmasters for making this a reality. Here's a photo of the helmet with my original cardback from 1983 (name cut out for sending off for a mail-away figure) and my original figure in the display cabinet behind.

Looks awesome cking - congrats! Yup, the folks at RS are true artists!

Really nice figure display!

Just need to figure out how to get this a bit more shiny, but I do really love it. It's satisfied a 37 year itch to own something so good

Gorgeous. Personally I'd get the Red Label one, even though it's not prop-accurate in its construction. The fiberglass, lining, and lower price make it my preferred option. I wish I could just get both.

Will it fit a 61cm head though? That's my main concern.

A question for the OP is your one red label or the more expensive one?

Also for those who have the red label one, is their any differences in colour or texture between the fibreglass and abs parts

Great helmets guys! :) (y)
Built my own RS-kit a while ago...was fun..for me the best Scouthelmet out there. But used another visor from a motorcross google...think the RS visor is not really good stuff..too dark.

I've had the RS ABS scout lid and currently own the Red label. The fiberglass doesn’t feel like fiberglass, it’s pretty light at 1.8 lbs (816g) so doesn’t have the heft of a traditional fiber glass helmet or the eFX fiber glass lid. My ABS was weathered and the red is clean but they seem pretty similar. My only gripe and it’s a small one is the red label seems a little yellow or creamish (could be the light or my eye but it bugs me a little). I asked Andrea about this and she said “I asked the guys and they are doing the helmets to match the armour now”.

Color aside, I still think the RS scout is the best out there, I just wish it was little whiter/brighter.

Kroenen77 - that looks absolutely superb. I wish my helmet had received that excellent gloss finish. I don't understand why they chose matt white for their finish. It just looks "off" and detracts from an otherwise flawless helmet. :(

Mine is the full abs version. They're painted the same so there will be no difference in colour. When I asked RS Propmasters about any difference in the texture, they said there was none.

I think RS uses matt white because the weathering they use is easyer and faster to add on matt paints. The real weathering was made with black rattle cans.Thats why I used airbrush for the spots.

I guess I will not be getting the Red Label helmet. Curse my big head. I inquired about it and RS said it will not fit a 61.5cm head size, but the ABS helmet will. I suppose due to the flexibility of the material and it already being a tight fit.

My head size is 58cm and I can JUST about get this ABS helmet on. It's a tight squeeze for sure though. Maybe there's a certain technique for getting it on (and off) more easily that I haven't mastered yet.

I was just quoted a 6-8 week wait for a Scout helmet. Going to pull the trigger as soon as I decide on the standard or the Red Label version.

i have a 61cm head and couldn’t get any scout helmet to fit, I’ve had the RS ABS, RS red and eFX LE and none of them come close to fitting. I’ve heard kropserkel has the biggest scout helmet but I’ve never tried one. those RS ones are really small. It’s also worth pointing out that I didn’t want to force the RS ABS as it’s expensive and is built from 2 halves so I felt I was just asking for it to split trying to fit it on my melon head
