Look how glossy the grenade looks in Jedifather's photo. And it's the exact same finish
Are you still planning on releasing the other version with the gloss grenade?
Dammn Starkillers Right Jedifathers Photo looks very glossy I'm constantly checking Tracking I'm so excited to get it in front of my eyes. That comparison definitely makes me change my mind on any gloss coat needed for this amazing Replica! Beautiful! Here's a comparison I put together of the various prop versions I have high resolution images of and my Starkiller replica. I think this run most closely replicates the second one from the left (chromed clamp section, raw aluminum emitter & pommel). I also think the powerful studio lighting for these images makes the grenade sections on the real props look more glossy than they would in natural light. I tried to replicate this in my picture of the replica, but I only have a cheap lightbox from Amazon. To my eye, even in my crumby picture the replica grenade looks much glossier than it does under normal circumstances. The point I'm trying to make is I'm pretty damn happy with this replica!

Nice case. It looks like a movie prison with foot thick glass where Hannibal lector or Magneto would be imprisoned but clearly seen.Beautiful job! I love the matte on the grip and booster. Been staring at it for the last hour in the case! Starkiller outdid himself. We need the Anakin next!!
Good eyeI like the anodized grenade. I think you could go with a semi gloss black paint if you really wanted to. Note that paint will also soften the grenade ridges. The real versions differ in that regard. The third lightsaber from the right in Dewy’s photo has softened grenade ridges (possibly from a thick coat of paint) while the second from right has crisp and sharp edges.
One feature I really like from AS’s is the removable top part of the emitter. If you unscrew it ever so slightly, it looks like the lower part of the emitter is a separate part. The photo below illustrates that these two versions actually had emitters consisting of two separate parts (or more possibly). I know some version(s) have a chrome emitter plate while the remainder of the emitter is aluminum.View attachment 1701452
That's what I've always remembered. It seems true to Star Wars form that this prop follows the pattern of multiple versions and no one keeping continuity between film and other published media and the licensed products.Interestingly, in my rewatch of the film, the more common hero’s windvane actually looked like a relatively dull painted gold, rather than the shiny brass seen on most replicas.
Ya never knowIt’s possible the Obi EP3 saber falls in line with the Luke ROTJ lightsaber (although Luke’s was more accidental/after the fact then intentional)
If Obi-Wan had the super shiny, polished gold/brass neck saber on-set on his belt it would have stood-out and reflected light in every shot so the darker/duller version was used instead for a lot of scenes (similar to the Luke V2 saber).
For promotional pics, toy/product use, and close-ups the shiny polished version was used (similar to the Luke Hero saber).
Due to the problems I had with the chrome plated resin parts, the Anakin project will probably be significantly scaled back. I'm thinking there will only be around 40 of these. And they will be completely static. Are there any updates about the Anakin? Just curious
Looks VERY similar to the Azarian. However, I don't think it's the same since the marbling pattern on the glasseye button is a bit different than that of the Azarian, from what I can see. Could be a straight cast. And maybe, it's just the lighting but the reference that MR used looks to have actual copper buttonsHere is a link to an auction for Anakin hero lightsaber from Ep. 3. May be similar to the reference used by MR.
