ROTJ detonator charges

just remember that you are looking for something that has a squarish hole on the side. The vent piece covers it up. I’m under the assumption there is a second hole on the opposite side as well due to the other vent piece placement. These are most likely the turn signal and/or shifter lever locations. Looking at the images from the Ewok movie, I think I can make out a similar shaped hole on the opposite side.

Yes. Definitely square holes on both sides. According to my 3D research they do not seem to be perfectly aligned.

I agree, I think it's only a matter of weeks till someone finds the right steering column. I'm 95% sold on the steering column lead, there's just so many features in common between the prop and the examples of steering components we've seen.

Regarding the rectangular holes on the sides, in my research I'm definitely finding examples with squared off holes for both turn signals and ignitions, although I'm finding more with only one cut out for a turn signal stalk, but a different feature/built in protrusion for the ignition.

The other opening could be for a column shifter.

Right..
These are most likely the turn signal and/or shifter lever locations.

I don’t think one is for the ignition. Most of these type parts as also mentioned above usually has some molded plastic extension built into the part. In the cases where I have seen just a hole for the ignition, that hole is usually round. I won’t completely rule it out but I am doubtful.

So if it is a shifter hole, then the front seat could be a front bench seat. Not sure how many cars during early 80s and late 70s had bench seats other than trucks. So maybe the prevailing theory that it is from a truck or similar vehicle has merit.

When I was a kid, my dad owned a mid '70s Chevy Nova and it had bench seats. For what that's worth.

Maybe better not to focus too much on US cars but rather on European models.

And about the side holes. We only see one square hole in the Ewok movie and one hole in another hero version. Maybe the other side has no hole or a round hole or something different altogether.

I think this shot shows the other end and I think you can just make out another hole:

As far as which country of car to look at, I myself have not restricted myself to an type. One issue is that companies like Ford....

.... have plants all over the world, not just the US. And the locations built cars models for Europe that were never made in the US. I believe that lonepigeon once posted a list of parts known to be collected in the UK or other part of Europe (can't remember exactly) and used in Star Wars production and they were mainly US makes but that doesn’t mean the parts were made in the US.

Correct.. id give anything to have a escort rs2000.. or even a mid 2000s Aussie falcon..

How many of these did they make? If 2 were turned into that thing, and at least 2 have been sold via propstore, is that all?

I know this seems silly to ask, but here we are. What do the labels on the side say and is there a font available for it? It kind of looks like the font "sith prophecy" but it's more angular.

Regarding the top metal piece, the first thing that comes to mind when I look at it are the metal leg levelers used on pinball and arcade machines in the 70’s and early 80’s. Unlike furniture gliders, these leg levelers are designed to add friction to keep the machines from moving around when players would tilt them, so they wouldn’t be flat, but would have the shape seen in the mystery part. Maybe investigate pinball or arcade machines produced in Europe during this time period. I know Midway manufactured many of their games in Ireland for the European market.

These do look the part - they are stamped enclosed items though, would the team bend open the feet to pop off the face of it?

I forget the diameter we're looking for

I've just found this record player , but it's too far to collect, and postage would make it a huge cost , so I've arranged with the vendor to just sell me just the slider knobs on the right side of the photo .
However , has anyone else pulled one of these apart , and is there anything els inside the turntable worth getting ? Anyone made a discovery in there prop related ??

Yes, I took it apart and double checked with some people. But nobody recognized anything. Not surprising since the prop makers probably never touched these record players since the knobs probably came from a RS components catalog.
