ROTJ detonator charges

I used to do leather work, thats very heavy

Well a few things...

No one has said anything about the weight of the actual part so until then, any weight discussion is moot.

I am not saying for sure it is a rivet anvil. I simply am throwing it out there. I think a aspect of the search should focus on the very deep divot and might the divot exist for a reason instead of just visual. It is one of the reasons I was also looking at door bumpers.

If it is indeed a rivet anvil, I am not saying it is this one. It would be one that would have to be at least 38 years old and might not have been a common style and long since made. The one pictured is brass I believe but I know that steel is also used.

Honestly I am still looking for something hollow underneath. The reason is that if the gear piece is the one from the V8 model, then there is a rise section that the part would form a cap over. Now, they could have just sanded that rise off so a solid piece would set flat but from the photos, the exposed gear teeth do not look to have any sanding marks. I would think they might have hit that area in a sanding process and i doubt they would have buffed them out if they did.

Also, I know I am alone in this but to me I still don't see anything in the images that 100% makes me believe this part is metal. It could be, I just cannot eliminate other materials.

Not metal?! First it was shiny then it was rusted! There's not that many materials that can do that!

I found these glides with nails and bought a few. I'll report when they are in. Not an exact match, I know, but it might be good for my build.

Silver paint that did not adhere well to the actual material that was originally a rust like color and wore off easily over time. I think that the surface is mostly the actual color of the material with some residue of the silver paint throughout. That light section at the bottom looks more like thick paint residue than it does un rusted metal.

I just found the gear in one of my v8 kits. Its a lot smaller than i thought. The body of this thing is like the size of a can of soup. Which makes me think the baffle we are looking for is not a standard size. It may not be a can light baffle. roygilsing what is the outside circumference of the bottom of the "baffle" that you came up with in your model?

Sorry? What's a baffle? You mean the largest diameter of the base of the detonator? I've got 117mm. The body diameter I have 85mm.

Thank you! The "baffle" is the found part of "can/recessed lighting") that we think could be the flare part of the base.

I think he is talking about the flared skirt as so think it is a light baffle (the flared piece at the end of a recessed light) might be the part. So he wants to know how large a hole would be in order for the main body to set in.
No im asking the bottom circumference. The 117mm. That helps me more with figuring out what kind of baffle this is if its even a can light baffle. I still think its a baffle. But for what I'm not sure now.
