ROTJ detonator charges

Yeah it was shiny before it got rusted.

It could have been so many things.
Perhaps a cap of some electronic component or a speaker driver:

I wish Gus would say for sure so that I could just let it go.

I am still troubled with the idea of a metal glide. These glides, even old ones usually are shiny because they are plated. This plating is there to prevent rusting. However rusting can occur if the item has been knocked around extensively and exposed the metal underneath. But that is usually a flaky type of surface like you see on the left...

I'd be more likely to believe it was nylon like this one in color...

...and that has been painted and that the paint did not agree with the nylon and wore off over time.

If you look at the base of this part on the prop, you see some sort of residue near the gear. To me, it looks more like left over paint than it does plated metal.

I guess it could be possible that the found part the builders used were already rusted and simply painted them, and that the rust reclaimed them not too long after that.

I just stumbled upon these glides: for a Fender Sphinx:

The old ones were 1" which is too big. And they have a hole. But a glide could be it. It should be around 20mm diameter.

Although, when I think about it: a glider would definitely have some flat surface on the bottom where it touches the floor. But the prop doesn't have a flat surface. Which is why it's probably not a glider foot.

I don't think a glide would necessarily be flat. Part of their purpose is to reduce the surface area touching the floor. The donut shape does that.
Here's a vintage furniture glide/foot I found in a box of bits from my house. I don't remember what I pulled these off of, but my house was built in the late 60's.
The diameter is right (about 20mm) and it's rusty.
It's the nail-in type. I stabbed it into some foam for the pic.

Alright, new search territory: electric garden devices (sturdy plastic, orange, motor housing?)
Like lawn mowers (well, it WAS in England!), leaf blowers, lawn edge trimmers, chainsaws, etc.

I think it's going to be a tricky find as it looks like whatever it is had some kind of cap on or was screwed to something judging by the screw holes and locating divots.

Marcus, would you be able to take some caliper measurements of the small diamond knurled Michell knobs you've used here? The outermost diameter and the height of the knurled section would be great. It seems that there is some variation in dimensions of that part from different examples of the Michell turntable, sometimes slightly larger in diameter, sometimes slightly narrower, and I'm just trying to get a bit of data for comparison. If anyone else has some other examples of this same original Michell part to offer up some measurements from, please share them, as the more data to work with the better! Thanks in advance!

The ones pictured are replicas I had machined, but I have several variants. I went with the closest one. I destroyed around eight Michell/Transcriptor tonearms over the years to feed my Lewis gun and Death Star camera!
Oh, right on! I've had ones that are about 6.38 mm in diameter and about 7.63 mm long, and others that are more like 7.48 mm in diameter and 9.37 mm long, so there seems to be quite the range. Any measurements you (or anyone else for that matter) would be willing share would be much appreciated!

You probably need the knurl depth too. They were made by hand so even if they started with the same dia stock on all of them the final diameter would depend on how deep the machinist made the knurls. The deeper the knurl the larger the final outside diameter

Here are the diameters x height that I have. I went with ***
6.65mm x 7.25mm
6.63mm x 6.62mm
4.95mm x 7.52mm ***
4.88mm x 7.46mm
6.60mm x 5.22mm
6.79mm x 6.67mm

[emoji15] how many do you need?!

I'll happily buy two from you for my build!
I could also start making replicas. You guys think there's a market for them? You know it's very hard to find similar thumb screws! Anybody found any that are close?
