ROTJ detonator charges

It could be a plastic party dip bowl for all we know. But it does have the characteristics of a can lighting baffle. But those same characteristics can be found in a lot of different items. Could be a little kitty milk bowl. Idk. Im outside the box right now.

vintage finish washers perhaps?

So I have sort have come full circle on the top cap piece. However not quite. I know there is a still a belief that these could be chair glides. But I was thinking about something similar. I started looking at furniture leveling casters/feet. For those that do not know, these are found on the bottom of furniture, appliances, and equipment that once in place can be twisted to the proper height to ensure the item is level, stable on what might be uneven surfaces.

The reason I started looking at these items was because I started to think..."What if they did not select the item for the top merely for visual purposes? What if the item they selected was to connect and hold together the gear piece and the turntable component?" Something with a screw already attached would be a good choice. What looks like the unknown item and also has a screw? furniture leveling casters/feet.

Now the item below is for example only. It is 5mm too wide, the divot/top is not quite right, it is modern, and even though I am keeping materials such as metal, plastic, and nylon as options, I definitely believe it is not black. I also suspect the bottom of the foot is not solid but hollow but also just a guess.

So one question I was wondering if this is a possibility is: Are there any such adjustable feet on know equipment used for prop parts such as on the bottom of the turntables or sound mixing boards, etc...?

Boom! these are the closet I have seen. The stools I sat on in shop class had stainless caps on the legs. The wife and I were watching Chip and Joanna Gains remodel a home and they used reclaimed shop class stools, they were a tad rusty, but the leg bumper caps were still there.

Not just turn tables and mixing boards. Stoves, refrigerators, heavy machinery etc. Definitely a good thing to look into.

Right. Like I said...

...these are found on the bottom of furniture, appliances, and equipment...

My point is that as a staring point, it might be best to start looking at items that we know the prop department used in production because yes, there are a lot of possibilities.

Was looking at other stereo components and feet and saw these...

Now this goes against my screw in theory, but since pointed knobs show up on props, I was wondering if this concave piece might be a possibility. Assuming that maybe if such an item and other shape variations that were closer to what we were looking for.

Just throwing it out there.

I agree that there might be a nail or a screw beneath the dome for a solid assembly. But just something to consider: the parts are not well aligned: the parts are slightly off center. If they drilled into the aluminium part underneath for a threaded screw, they did a poor job. Or maybe they drilled it on a drill press eyeballing it and not on a lathe.

Another thing to consider is that the V8 gear has a little raised step on the top side, and the dome cap is covering that. Plus considering that the two parts are not well aligned, the thickness of the dome is about 0.6 mm or smaller. This makes it almost certainly from metal.

I agree, which is why I said above that I think the found part is hollow (as in, not solid). There is the possibility (which is very small in my opinion) that they sanded the step off but I think it is very unlikely. If they had done that, I think there might be some sort of sanding marks on the exposed teeth, but there is not. So I think your above model is quite accurate.

I don't know what that is, but I know I might need it for something...

I think this would be way easier to ID if we at least knew whether it was actually rusting metal or just painted.

Yesterday I glanced at the "who made the OWK saber" thread and saw the pre-production sabers that where deep sea and scuba diving lights.
Made sense since they used other diving equipment, so I did a bit of searching on that for our canister shape and that lead into a search of spot lights or decorative up lights.

Why do I bring this up?
Like MJF's thoughts on the train or safety lights, the spot lights attach on the sides with brackets instead of a handle.

Throwing it out there for others to dig into.

Thanks and good idea. The thing is: that was 1976 and this is years later: 1982 probably.

So...is that the conical greeblie from the Luke V2 and the side-disk from the ESB DL-44s...?

I‘m not really making that sort of claim. This is just a visual example. As stated we know where those pieces are from. These are one of many variations on the market today.

My point was that it might be worth looking at other types of anti vibration feet. They have a lot of variants.
