All they need to do is embrace the confusion head-on in the marketing, something like...
"Is this Episode 8?"
"NO! This is separate, brand-new, STAR WARS STORY!"
I'd follow that up with:
"...and NO BOTHANS DIE IN THIS MOVIE!!!"

I'm curous about the test audiences either.
I'm skeptical about that aspect of the story the most.
I don't think anyone here was panicking about the fact there were reshoots. I think most understand that reshoots and pick up shots are not that unusual. I think most were more concerned about *why* they were happening and the allegation that this supposed test audience didn't like the movie and the execs were freaking out. Of course, it goes without saying that's assuming any of that is true which is sounds like it isn't.

While test screening might not have been the proper term, according to the article Disney execs did watch the initial cut of the film.

I much prefer Andy Gutierrez anyway. She's more pleasing to the eye.You don't need Twitter to follow along. (Pablo Hidalgo on Twitter).
TBH, I just wish he'd stop posting - or at least stop going as far has often does. He's ruining a lot of the speculative fun. He often comes off (to me, at least) as a pretentious, sour, know-it-all, rather than a LFL Exec and makes me miss Sansweet and Bonnie Burton. Although he's not as bad as the MakingStarWars folks and those that slobber over him.
