Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Pre-release)

Don't want to blame you, but I'm so sick of all these family theories once we see a new character...

I think one of the points of this film was no Jedi, no Force. and I would think no to savior family members too. These people are on their own, and took
action because nobody else was going to save them. They are their own only hope.

No Jedi in Rogue One? Think again:

Looked like they were installing it.

Or maybe the dish extends for some reason? Wasn't it already in place in ROTS?

Hope the lead dosnt turn out to be space Katniss.

It's funny because some guys here at work were just talking about this. Her dialogue was a bit cheesy and from the tiny bit we've seen, it seems like Felicity is trying a bit too hard to give off a "bad@ss" vibe.

No, it's a lame character conceit being incorrectly applied to Rey.

It's an appropriate classification of that character. She fits the fan fiction classification well. Probably
the most successful Mary Sue ever written, but none the less, there it is.

Another thought is that some of these new characters I think are likely not to survive their mission, they are of course are not referenced in past films. I suspect
a grand act of self sacrifice to transmit those plans will be made.

Yeah, exactly. I want to see characters on a daily basis. Characters one can relate to. That's the main reason I'm excited for this flick.

I'll reiterate it as many times as need be...

The biggest flaw any character in any "high concept" movie can have is that they deny the call to adventure...

It would be like Obi wan saying "There's Mos Eisley.... we should get go-"

"Nope! I'm out! I don't need your rebellion."

Rey chose to deny the call more than once.. At no time did she ever choose to go on this adventure...

She wanted to go back to Jakku

She said no when Han offered her a job.

She ran from the saber and the call from the force.

She only ends up on Starkiller base because she was dragged there by Kylo.

A Mary Sue would have said yes to leaving Jakku behind, would have take Han up on his offer, and grabbed that saber and said "And where can I become a jedi now?"

Dan destroyed that argument over in the TFA thread, it was a beautiful eviceration only a lawyer could create, maybe he can post a link to it, it was glorious.

ohhhh did I miss this? I would like a look.

Bad idea to change the Stormtroopers armor and the AT-ATs. This is supposed to be what.....a few months before ANH? The ST armor was the same for ANH to ROTJ but hey, we need to spice things up because telling a good story isnt good enough.

Little criticism, other than that im excited to see this. Forrest whittaker isa personal favorite and the lady who plays Mon Mothma nailed her likeness.

Ditto the fanboy reactions on this trailer. Really well put together. Justified my hope/expectation that Rogue One can be better than Force Awakens.

The Dish install is the cherry on top. It's when you've cancelled service and they just leave that schiese hanging.
Wanna see an exploding Death Ball and that flying Dish be the only thing left.
Cool w/the Asian brothers in this. Everyone thinks we all know kungfu.
The curveball would have been an Imperial Asian Guy. Volunteer that one!
By the way, the Grand Admiral/Intelligence Service dude looks bada$$.

Don't know about the troopers, but maybe these AT-ATs are a different version for another type of territory (one for snow, one for water and sand, one for lava, one for poop, ... I don't know ^^).

I'm sure it was very passionate.

It was very passionate. As is everything Dan writes. I like Dan. But even lawyers have been known to be wrong...from time to time.

I would also love to see this. I can't tell you how happy/excited/grateful I am to see female protagonists in my absolute favorite universe - so the Mary Sue and "ANOTHER girl?" angles got old real fast!
