Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Pre-release)

and WTF is Mary Sue? IF that means she's a naïve young woman... then I think you don't have to worry... She's gonna be way more Boba Fett/Han Solo-ish than whiney Farmboy - put money on it.

Grand admiral looks a little like Wulf Yularen. Love the looks of this footage, the costumes, the actors. This from what it shows is what I am looking for from anything Star Wars further to come. I already see at least 5 characters I would want action figures of and they are not stormtroopers. This definitely did its job in teasing. I also loved the blaring battle ready noise.

Eh.....seemed kind of by the numbers to me. Like any countless movies where rebellious individual joins/recruited by the CIIA/secret organization and is relied upon complete super secret mission with fate of the world in the balance. Only this has AT-ATs. As of now I'm leaning to waiting for home video.

Glad you can judge an entire movie on a 90 second trailer. That's clearly enough to make a sound decision. Are you for real? :rolleyes

That is NOT what it means--quite the opposite. Rey was a Mary Sue, a female character who is great at everything, unflawed, to the point of absurdity.

Let's hope RO's heroine is not written this way. If she is, it will be the last Star Wars film I'll ever watch.

The Wook

I'm not sure which I hate more... the rise of the term "BAE", "On Fleek", or "Mary Sue"...

It's Max Landis's fault.

Also incorrect...

And if she was a "Mary Sue", then here are a few others...

John Maclean in Die Hard
John Connor in Terminator 2
Princess Leia Organa (Original Trilogy)
John Wick
Arnold Scharzeneger in everything
John Rambo
The Bride (Kill Bill)
Indiana Jones

Indy?

He is always on the verge of losing every fight he is in, until he finds that last ounce of strength he had in reserve, every time he finds something he almost immediately looses it, and he can't land a plane.

If he is good at archaeology, its because he has spent his whole life researching it.

He isn't great at everything by a long shot.

Interesting E-11 she is holding

Rey almost lost against Kylo til she gathered her strength and won.

He can fly a plane... if he has to crash it, he can pull out a boat and ski it down a hill.

He can ride motorcycles and outrun and beat german motorcyclists... who ride all the time...

He knows everything about everything including not to open eyes while the ark is open (although there has never been anything said about the ark that you can't look at it)

He can ride a submarine across an ocean from the outside of it.

He knows how to direct a woman to turn off a booby trap, from inside a booby trap, that he's never been in before.

These are all the same kind of arguments people make about Rey

Saw the trailer. Really liking it. Great to see actual Star Destroyers and Stormtroopers again!

And with that, out of the thread again. ;)

Not sure if has been mentioned but the troopers in the tank appear to have different helmets and slightly different armor.

It would make sense given that the Empire, with the exception of Sandtroopers, uses a completely different helmet and armor for their specialized Stormtroopers. So, why not different helmet and armor for what appears to be mechanized infantry troops.
