Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Pre-release)

My guess is that the T-47s are optimized for low level atmospheric flight and are relatively slow in order to provide CAS for ground troops, basically the Star Wars version of an A-10.

Yes this. Speeders are just low altitude atmospheric craft. I think the Republic Gunship was technically a speeder, though some sources say they could drop from orbit.

See I always took that line to mean T-47's were a common form of attack speeder that simply needed some modifications to function in the cold as opposed to a complete change or overhaul.

I don't think it is canon? Not anymore at least?

I will say, generally speaking, I'm pretty surprised at the almost total lack of anything official being put out in regards to Rogue One. It comes out in 8 months and all we've gotten is that cast pic, afaik. At this stage during TFA's production, I think we had already gotten a trailer and were soon to be getting the second one. I would've thought LFL would really want to start the media blitz early and make sure people realize this movie isn't EP.8. I've encountered people that thought it was so that's a potential issue marketing and promotion probably needs to be mindful of.

Actually it's the opposite. TFA remained in theaters through Feb. and the home release is in a week. They don't want to conflate Rogue One promotions while still pushing TFA. That will all change come April and May provides them an excellent marketing opportunity to face the biggest impact.

Well, I could see not promoting it while TFA was still going strong in theaters back in Jan. or so but I wouldn't think the home release would be anything to be too concerned over.

It's getting a lot of press and promotion that will be done next week. I also think they are trying to decide how to market this. It's a brand new animal and it's a real war movie from what little we have learned. The tone of the marketing needs to be carefully crafted to sell it properly.

Having been fortunate enough to see early footage of it, this thing will market itself, particularly to OT fans. Key word: nostalgia :thumbsup I think the only reason we haven't seen anything yet is b/c Disney is waiting for the right time.

Yeah, i don't think sales is going to be an issue here at all. Just like BvS and TFA, the name alone will sell people on it, period.I can see lots of ads saying ....ever wonder how the rebels got the plans to the death star??? stuff like that to reinforce it's not 8, but that's about it. They could sell tickets right now and with no other ads other than buy tickets now they'll hit 9 figures...granted they've got 8 months, but still.

I could see a trailer attached to Civil War, being Disney and all. Plus A LOT of those butts will fill seats for both movies so easy win there if they do it. I believe this will market itself, mostly being SW but I bet if there's any hint of Vader in the trailer people will go nuts.

Yeah, I have no doubt they will tease Vader in the first trailer, he's the gateway drug to get people hooked on this film.

if they can get NEW Vader and LOTS of NEW Vader ANNNNND James Earl Jones to voice him?

You can bet this'll be just as big as force awakens.

I think they might be using rebels to get him back in practice for the voice. it is a taaad off when he first started.. but now it's sounding right.

So far it seems like they have! Besides anything official, there really hasn't even been a whole lot in regards to leaks or spy pics especially considering it's coming out this year! There's been some rumors but not a whole lot else.

After today's news with Kimmel and now Rogue One teaser on GMA tomorrow, I'm guessing we'll see the first Rogue One trailer attached to Civil War, and the first Dr Strange trailer attached to Jungle Book.
