I couldn't care less what you consider as "evidence". The decades of people of every stripe enjoying these movies and flocking to their conventions all over the world completely obliterates the argument over "alienating" minorities or so-called "protected" classes. Yeah.That's equal treatment. Lol

I don't take these nonsensical arguments predicated on imagined sjw fictions any more seriously than a bazooka comic. Pathetic that playing the victim has been the national sport for as long as it has..But, thankfully that bubble has finally burst.
 
The real problem is that the main actor is British and as an American we all know that British people play bad guys! :lol ;)

I flipped ROTJ on last night when it was on TV and that did that part and I started thinking "Well how many Bothans died? It had to be more than 10 because you don't get that upset about 10 Bothans. How many did it take to capture the plans?" The old EU tried to come up with something and say it was a small group, but Imperial reprisals killed a lot more.

Get what Snikt's point was. But it's business and the Reds have money. Can't ignore that fact and as Bryancd mentioned it's a way to create future fans.
I remember Empire as a Gen X kid growing up. The Snowtrooper was my first SW toy.
Always been an Empire type of guy and this hobby got me the real life creations from films I loved.
Posted this way back when footage and casting was just coming out, they could have been more original and threw a curve ball: like an Asian Imperial guy. Like maybe a Tie Pilot. For personal selfish reasons. Maybe in the Solo movie at the Academy? Forget the Aliens across the Galaxy.

My point about minorities and protected classes is about corporate profiting and how it's being perceived as pandering. Your response didn't actually address that at all.

People that are acting outraged that they included Asians in Star Wars are the ones playing victim.

EDIT: Also, I didn't say minorities felt alienated and did not see Star Wars. I said that you did not feel alienated and were essentially projecting your personal experience upon minority groups.

Personally, I just thought the Trade Federation sounded dumb with an accent period. And I did get an Asian vibe at that time when first hearing the voice. Also Binks with some Rasta Jamaican accent was too much. It's the exaggeration of a stereotype that gets you in trouble. Wtf, they all have to sound like that? Just because Jango actor is NZ Maori (?), I don't think all Mandos are. His character just was.

As for the earlier conversation starter, I really didn't understand why the dude quoted another and CHANGED his words. You post your thoughts. You quote someone else then reply. Why the heck would you alter another Man's quote? To somehow "correct" or change his views? That's a very challenging & insulting move.

On a happier note: swear I've pretty much seen most of the movie by viewing all the tv clips, trailers and exclusive shots.
Movie can't get here fast enough. Those lucky to catch LA premier. Peace.
 
Beat me too it by seconds Willie !!!!! Anyone who wants to avoid spoilers and such like should probably think about leaving the thread for a few days until release, the reviews will be pouring in soon. Got to admit the "Dirty Dozen" comparison is a bit worrying!!!!

So in summary, many are calling this a totally epic SW movie, beating nearly all their expectations ,and it remains a hard hitting and very gritty war movie with some brutal moments in it. It looks brillant and beautiful ,has alot of twists and turns in it that are not revealed in the trailers and TV spots, DON'T read the reviews coming out because it will substantially spoil the film,and there are some brilliant reveals and references back to the SW cannon that will astonish fans and all those reshoot worries are groundless. Multiple viewings seem essential!!!!
Sounds quite good to me.

Oh and Felicity, Donnie and Alan are getting a lot of praise for their character roles.
