That trailer embodied my perception of Star Wars: A small, desperate group of rebel underdogs fighting for their freedom against an evil Empire.
It's not the inconsistent and pseudo philosophy of Jedi vs. Sith. It's not clones against a bunch of robots fighting for convoluted separatist political causes. It's not the ambiguousness of the First Order against the Resistance.
This film looks like it's going back to the beautiful simplicity of the original Star Wars that anyone can relate to: Oppressed people fighting a massive, oppressive institution against all odds. Star Wars isn't deep writing and it doesn't have to be deep. I believe it's this simple formula that makes Star Wars so much fun especially when you add the AT-ATs, Star Destroyers, X-Wings, etc. This is Star Wars for me, and I absolutely love it. This trailer captured all of it. It may not have my original childhood heroes of Luke, Han, and Leia, but I am perfectly willing to embrace the new ones as it captured the heart of why I originally fell in love with these movies to begin with.
Hopefully it doesn't disappoint, but so far it looks like it will be incredibly satisfying.
