I've seen the preview that has the "Dead or alive, you're coming with me," quote. That line has some significance in the original movie. One of the bad guys recognized him because he previously said it. If the makers of this movie just use that line as a catchphrase, their path to the darkside will be complete.

I can almost guarantee that it's just a catchphrase and will hold no more significance than "You're move creep".
I'm not going into this movie with any expectations at all. I need to relearn that lesson every so often. Pacific Rim being the last movie I was actually pretty amped up to so (not going with my initial intinct of "that looks like a ginormous turd").

What gets me is the countries it's getting released in before it hits the US, I'm pretty sure a fair few of these countries are at the centre of movie piracy RoboCop (2014) - Release Info - IMDb Then they wonder why the Torrents are flooded with copies of the film before it's release ! A friend of mine said,'One would almost think they were trying to get pirated for some kind of marketing purpose: If it's good, word of mouth will spread early. If it's naff, they can blame piracy for poor returns.'
Hollywood loves to release overseas first because that's where the money is. They're not as picky about movies over there as Americans are so they always do better. I agree that they let them out in the spots with the most pirates as part of their plan to cover their butts for crap films.

lol...I'm done judging this film against the original. It's just unfair to both the original AND this one. That clip was cool, I liked how ED-209 was trying to find him under his feet...lol...but yeah, the grunting and stuff...not what I'd expect...so my expectations for this are so low that if it turns out to be good I'll love it, if not, no big deal.
Though i did notice a rather large flaw in that scene...did anyone else notice Robocop's scanner is a bit whacked - he only saw 2 of what 4 Ed 209s in there??? I wonder if his radar is on warranty...lol

Once again proving that they've entirely missed the point.
The original Robocop screamed in pain right before he killed Clarence Boddicker even though it was only the robot body being damaged. Kinda makes sense that the new Robo would grunt and feel out of breath as part of the simulation of being human. I think they've reversed how it was in the original, he thinks he's still human and has freedom but slowly discovers he's a robot and has no real freedom.

Awesome... they've one-upped shakey-cam by making it too-close-shakey-cam.
I thought Iron Man 2 was bad with the servo sound effect every time he moves. Is this going to be the same crap.
I can't tell if these scenes are final footage or if they still need to add in the Robo-voice effect. I kind of like that. Seems almost weird not to have some sort of voice effect.
And yeah... grunting? WTF.
No. No I really don't.
I just don't like this new RoboCop.
I like the original.
Specifically, I liked the mechanical, monolithic way that Peter Weller portrayed him.
I know that people are gonna pull the whole "Well, that's the way we thought robots would move then, and this is how we expect them to move now" statements.
I don't care. I like the unstoppable force of justice that RoboCop is, not the dancing ballerina that FauxboCop is.
Oh, and regarding the video? The original's drug factory raid scene was far more epic and awesome in scope than this fight against the three ED-209 wannabes.
Not to mention robots aren't moving all that much better than Peter Weller back in the 80s. You watch videos of Asimo and such and they're still pretty jerky. I know that originally weller's version was supposed to do fluid movements but it wouldn't have been as iconic.

I concur. We all know at this point that they're very different interpretations of the story, so it's pointless to continue comparing them. I don't know if this remake will ever generate as large a fan base as the original, but I'm hoping it'll be good enough that I won't feel like I've wasted my time and money by watching it.
