Robocop Reboot (Pre-release)

I'm starting to think this was made so the studio could keep the rights to Robocop and try and make a fortune of merchandising.

This makes Robocop-Prime Directive look pretty good....

Did I really just say that?:sick

I said it months ago. And honestly it is a bit like the two AvP films: the first one is really bad then along came the 2nd film, which made the 1st one seem like a master piece :lol

AvP:R :facepalm what were they thinking.

People, calm down, we still have Predators. That is like Gone with the Wind of Predator films. Actually, all the Predator films have done far better than the AVP franchise.

Predators is so damn good. Robocop won't come close to Predators level quality. Because for all its great actors, the guy playing Murphy is a doofus, and the direction looks tedious and conventional.

I read an interesting article in Popular Science about the take on the new Robocop suit. Actually, the perspective they chose to take on it is pretty neat and rooted in more science fact that than science fiction. Despite my own dislike for the batmanesque look of the suit, it has been a well thought out design from what I've read.

I saw the Pop Sci article too...they shouldn't have put the old suit on the same page. It just highlights the design inferiority of the new one. More technologically accurate or not, it's ugly. Also PS said the original was all metal, but it's titanium laminated kevlar, according to the movie. So it was more modern than they gave it credit for.

I don't think the people making this reboot understand what made the original so great. It's not technical achievement in the field of cyborgs, it was an intelligent R rated satire. The reboot looks more like some sci fi action cop movie, and it doesn't even look like they have done a good job making that type of movie. Fail x 2.

Not that titanium laminated Kevlar is even real...

Here are some more action figure pictures of the new Robo.

I love pre-paint figures. They look so awesome. I'm sure they make a horrible mess of this by painting it since they usually glob it on and it looses all of its fine detail as a result. This figure looks to be the silver one, not the "tactical black" model.
I keep seeing the silver Robo referred to as version 1. One thing that would actually be kind of cool is if, in the movie, they showed a scene of them "head swapping" him onto a different chassis... I picture something like the scene in Star Trek: First Contact when the Borg queen's head and spine are lowered into her body.
Funny, have thought that out it definitely makes me wonder how they are going to explain how much of him is still human/organic under the cyborg body, because if they are swapping him around into different bodies, it's not just his head they're moving.... they also have to explain that stupid flesh hand. Does that mean his arm is under the armor? Did they just put all of the Robo-armor over top of his charred human stump of a body like Darth Vader?

Like I said before, what are the odds someone thought ahead and the hand isnt actually organic to Murphy but is there to use DNA encoded weapons with a side effect being able to mimic DNA to any human on the database. That would make the hand a cyborg part on its own as well.
