Robocop Reboot (Pre-release)

And *that* looks like an Iron Man suit!

I haven't seen pacific rim yet, obviously, but in the context/reality of the story, wearing armored suits makes sense; they're fighting giant monsters in giant robotic suits in which they operate it being suspended. They're going to get knocked around and risk flying off of whatever is suspending them. Aside from getting flown against the bulkhead, risking a concussion or worse, they're usually seen in the water/ocean...they'd need some sort of suit to protect them should the robot go down and they get trapped underwater...That's how I see it..

No argument from me: it looks like a functional (in the story context) suit. As is Stark's. Robo, on the other hand, looks out of context.

DavidR1's leather suits look more metal thank this...

THINK about it...

I bet he could make an all leather robo1 suit and it STILL look more like a robot.

This is RUBBER.

It LOOKS like rubber.

It looks like a SUIT. Not a cyborg. With todays FX they should have his joints smaller than a humans... so its obvious he is a cyborg...

Like the robots in the new total recall... they were REALLY cool looking and effective.

Yeah this director is an idiot looking for fame and glory. What the hell are they teaching kids at film school these days? It used to be you made movies for the love of making movies not being famous and rich.
QFT. I was watching The Shark is Still Working last night and reminded how much Jaws was a labour of love.

I agree with Peter Weller when asked about this movie when he said "who gives a "crap"?".
Did he really? That's pretty awesome.

I thought they would have changed their mind after the general bad reaction on the first views of the armor, but apparently not... it reminds me of the armors in the first GI-Joe, they are made to look awesome, but are definitly not.

The makers of Iron Man costume did an amazing job transcending the comic book armors.

Well, the suits doesn't make the movie, Total Recall had cool robots but failed at entertaining on his second half, wait... there's Star Trek, Pacific Rim and Man of Steel coming, why are we even talk about rubbercop ? :D

Thanks bud and I appreciate the vote of confidence:thumbsup...especially because I just acquired the rights to this new RoboCop franchise. :D
We'll be making this as a direct 'movie replica', meaning done as they have for the film...helmet and all, as well as our standard form molded leather outerwear.
Personally, I love this new design...Love Love Love it and I don't fee that it takes anything at all away from the first film. That one still stands on its own and will continue to do so regardless of new films to come.

I love remakes, but of course I love GOOD remakes even more, so...here's hoping!
From what I've seen...it's going to be pretty darn cool.:cheers

A robot or cyborg can't be rubber? It's Robocop, not Steelcop.

I think this movie looks just as bad as everyone else. But, harking on a costume because it looks "rubber" (looks more plastic to me)... when there's been little implication or reasoning why it can't be rubber doesn't make a whole lotta sense.

Sorry, dude... just calling it as I see it :)

It's not the material...

It's the fact that it LOOKS like a costume.

Stan Winston or ILM this is not.

Would love to see WETA give a go at making an updated robocop.

David I definitely meant no insult. Was a compliment to your skills with leather...

They shoulda just let you make the actual real costume for the film... At least the stunt guy riding the motorcycle would be fully protected!!! LOL!!!

Man this dude has more rubber on his suit than Trojan Man. Seriously they'd have been better off making this a fancy CGI animated movie.

Oh, absolutely no insult taken bud. :D Like I said, that was very cool of you to say...and while I'm no where near being the right Co. to make these costumes for 'film' purposes....product to the public is a different story, and our Museum Quality costume-version will 'hopefully' be as faithful to what you see in the pics above. Hopefully...:unsure
Our job is to replicate for you guys the fans and collectors, and in this case we do have the movie replica 'museum quality' product license.
So, love or hate the new suit, we're going to be making it as close as humanly possible to what they did...hopefully. :angel
Thanks again dude, you rock.

David

Agreed that the suit looks too rubbery.

I don't mind the helmet too much. Kind of a cool look. Even the suit doesn't look horrible, but like someone else said "it looks cool, if it was anything but Robocop".

I'm not comfortable with the idea of a robot/cyborg having enough range of motion to get onto a motorcycle. I would almost rather see him attach to a motorcycle, almost like a moto-terminator. Where it wouldn't be a full motorcycle but something he interfaces to... if it's possible to pull that off without looking too Transformery.

I also don't like the look of the face. One of the greatest parts of the original Robocop was that they attached the skin from his face onto the cyborg head unit. So far the new one just looks like a guy in a suit... he doesn't look any more cyborg than the GI Joe powersuit guys did.

And don't get me started on ED-209. Why does everything have to look like a Transformer with all these sharper protruding pieces coming off it... like the newer anime type mechs or something. This is ever more of a shot to the head than the Robocop look. ED-209 was perfect before.

I have mixed feelings on the cast. I'm pretty much sick of Sam Jackson. For the most part the rest of the cast looks awesome... just not sure about Kinneman pulling off Robo.

I don't know that this movie will suck, but so far my expectations are about as high as they were for Total Recall and Iron Man 3. So I can't be too disappointed.

PS... thought this was pretty funny.

ROBOCOP REMAKE RECEIVES A PG RATING

That PG rating wouldn't shock me since everything has to be teenager friendly these days. If anything Robo would have a trike as it is fast, mobile, and you don't need a ton of range of motion to sit and drive one. Hell give him one of these with some weapons and armor on it, it'd be good product placement, BRP Can-Am Spyder Roadster USA: 3 Wheel Motorcycles

Even with the Spyder you need the manual dexterity/range of motion just to get onto it (swinging your leg over the seat).

Moreso than the face, in my opinion the thing that makes it look like a guy in a suit is the bare hand. That might have some sort of significance in the story they'll tell in this movie, but it's a little too "human" for my tastes.

They're both horrible.
In the original they told Bob Morton they were able to save his arm but he told they "...We agreed on total body prosthesis." Maybe in this version they want to change that up a bit.

I think just the fact that it won't be as graphically violent won't have the same impact when it comes to his transformation.
In the original you seem him get ripped apart by shotguns so you see just how much of a perfect candidate he is for a new cybernetic body.

Having seen these Robocop suits in person, they look pretty good actually, definately more of a metal look than rubber. I especially like the Robocop/motorcycle, I think Davidyr1 is going to make an awesome leather suit from this.

The first robocop movie had a cool iconic suit, but that's about where it's cinematic significance ends (the writing and acting is laugh-out-loud bad at some points).
Hopefully this one is better written, because it doesn't seem to have the cool suit going for it.

MADNESS!!!
I think that's Verhoeven's style. In a lot of the movies he made during the 80's/90's the characters had some level of campiness to them, didn't they? In some cases it almost seemed like they were intentionally overacting.
