Robocop Reboot (Pre-release)

Is it just me or does anyone else think the black version of the suit actually looks better on the toy than the real thing does? The toy has a nice sheen to it that seems to be lacking on the actual suit used on screen and I think that's what's missing from the suit, a metallic or glossy sheen, the matte finish on the real suit makes it look fake and too much like a suit and not his body.

With the Silver v1.0, at least on the figure, the hip joints seem to be exposed enough to make it look like there's really no way it could be a suit. I absolutely love this figure.

The black v3.0 is too filled out and, I agree, between the matte color and the style of the armor it looks more like layered padding or plates than a part of him. Who knows how the movie will play these versions out though.

The more i look at the toys the more i swear they designed him from day 1 as an action figure more than to be practical in movie. One nice thing about the action figures is you can probably replace or just rework the human hand to match the other.

I'd just paint the hand black so he'd be right.

The not so nice thing about the figures... is the price.

I did some photoshop tinkering on the Square Enix figure. It would have been great if they removed some of the mass at the core and joints in post to give it that more robotic see through look with some exposed wires and hydraulic pistons under the armor plates.

The "suit" looks like Dip'd EVA foam. I've never seen chubby robotics... except most of Bay's Transformers LOL! I wonder if his footsteps will be silent since he'll be stealthy. One of the coolest sounds was the original's footsteps :thumbsup

I think I've heard of Haley because of that terrible Nightmare on Elm Street remake. I don't watch very many movies made after about the year 2000.

He was an awesome Rorschach in Watchmen, and he was some dude in Shutter Island

I do like how that looks. I just watched Total Recall again and the enforcement robots in that had a kind of hollow stomach. Definitely makes it look less like someone in a suit and is good use of CG without overdoing it.

Doesn't make up for the fact that Kinneman still doesn't do it for me AT ALL. I guess it could be worse though... could have been Hayden Christiansen, Charlie Hunnam or Ryan Reynolds.

They could have used Jason Statham if he lost the accent. He has that stern look but then again they want robocop to be a family man in this thing and not an action hero.

He's so cheesy though... I'd rather have someone "real". How about Nic Cage? :p
