The scar's there, it's just hard to see in most shots, it's been filled in. I imagine the mold was taken after Murphy died (I'm in the camp that believes that Robo's "face" is artificial, just rubber/latex over an animatronic mechanical gizmo that makes it move).

I think the presence of the scar is meant to clearly indicate it's Murphy living tissue. After all, he's supposed to eat that paste that tastes like baby food. It's supposed to keep his tissue's alive.

I thought the baby food was just to keep his brain alive. I also always thought that they pealed his face of his skull and stretched it over the machine head. I didn't think it was still alive since it was cold to the touch, i just figured it was leather-like.

Well, they did manage to fit in the "two weeks" in the Total Recall remake... so there's at least a shred of hope they'll have a few nods to the original. Hopefully not just the "Dead of alive..." tagline.

Sadly given the disdain they've shown towards the original from the start of this project i doubt they'll have much of anything as a nod in it or if they do it'll be really badly done.
