Rey's Gun TFA

Finished up the main modeling last night, now I just need to make some tweaks on a few things. Tolerances are way too tight on a couple of the joints, so I'll adjust those as well. Test print laid out and assembled. For my first model I'm pretty proud!

Looking good! I look forward to comparing blasters at the prop party in March. Nice idea to add the black panel areas to the lower body section. I did remove the black squares from the side plates, but I put a relief behind them and glued in a thin piece of sheet metal.

The whole time she is wearing her Jakku outfit she has it tucked in her "belt" (the straps that go around the small of her back).

Yeah, but I'm referring to the holster she keeps it in during the last scene of the film in her Skellig Michael costume.

Hey, I don't post much on here but I found this thread super useful for references as I built a 3D version of the gun. I'm still gonna tweak it a bit and render some more images or perhaps a full turn around. I'm very impressed with other people's work and it's inspiring me to print mine so I can have a real one.

Are the grip screw heads tamper proof torx or button head Allens?
I'm pretty sure they're all tamper proof Torx. There's another thread around here somewhere with shots of the prop. There is one side view where you can tell they're Torx if you zoom in and look carefully. Hard to tell if they're tamper proof but the others in the same shot are. I'd assume they used the same type for the whole thing.

mm.

Just found a great photo album on flickr with a bunch of very high quality photos of Rey's blaster from Disneyland's Season of force. This shot clearly shows the torx screw for the grip.

Another great build, another great video! Awesome work, Bill!

I'm in the smoothing process now on my build. Hoping to get the airbrush going in the next few days

I am loving all of the different methods that people are utilizing to knock out this gun! Here's my take on the gun. All 3D printed, molded, and cast.

I also did a full video on my build if you're into that sort of thing. =)
I've been loving seeing you work on this, Bill. And great job, it turned out amazing! :)

I really want to build one of these myself, even more than a DL-44, but alas, the Dutch firearms laws prevent me from doing so. I'll just have to live vicariously through you guys :'(
