Hi everyone, Karen here, first Star Wars costume! Starting to work on my Rey, (hopefully it will be finished by the opening date) I just had a question for everyone about dying since this will be the first time I am dying fabric. Is everyone using the Dhrama dye or would RIT dye be ok? Just curious as to what everyone is using. Thanks for any help!

It would depend on the type of fabric you are dying. If it is cotton RIT works great, if it is Poly the I would use iPoly (available at JoAnn's ), however if it is something more exotic like silk I would get silk based dye at Dharma.

Precisely what MiraDarkstar said. If you got all the fabric from Dharma, then using RIT dye will work (since they are all natural and not polyester). That's what I used on mine. I used the liquid version in Taupe and Pearl Gray. I would only add a little pearl gray to the taupe, though, if you want a shade darker (but totally optional).

Thank you for the dyeing help!

For those ordering the Po Vu shoes can I ask what size you ordered? I'm a womens size 7 but their sizing looks a bit different there and when I measured my foot it came out to be a 36 by the size guide which seemed small.

I am a USA size 7 and ordered 38. They fit great.

Just got the Rubies staff (the one I pre-ordered last month)
At 4 feet so it is 3/4 scale.
3/4" diameter so it's not really usable for spacing out on a longer piece of tubing, unless you don't mind everything being 1/4 to small in dia.
The up side it it does show some of the shapes that where questionable like the hex shape near the top, how many prongs on the piece above it, etc.

If nothing else it can be used as a spacing reference bumping it up to 6 feet.

Does anyone have a pattern for her shirt? I'm trying to figure out her short sleeves hm.. I tried but the shape didn't come out quite right.

The pozu boots fit pretty good. I'm a size nine and got a 40 I believe. I have lots of room and they are probable the most comfortable shoes I have for a costume!

There is a thread on the Rebel Legion where someone posted a drawing of the top that is what I am basing mine on.

The post is in the fringe area of the forum, you can read without an account, but have to register to reply.

Looks like. I didn't post it since it isn't my image. If you read the thread there is discussion on the construction of the top as 2 pieces instead of 1 and why. :)

Hi
I am new to this forum thanks for letting me in. I am trying to make Reys staff does anyone know the dimensions like overall length and the length of all the different sections.
cheers

Everybody's costumes are looking incredible!

I've utterly stalled on mine; I so wanted to get the Po Zu boots but with the AUD in the toilet, I can't justify the exchange rate (works out at $320 before postage!). Am hoping I can pull something together in the few weeks I have off work before the premiere!

For those US ladies who have bought the Po-Zu boots, have you used your US size or tried to measure your foot and go off that?

I went by my US size. Fits like a charm!

I haven't posted here in a while but with the new trailer out I'm pumped to break out my Rey 1.0 costume for the premier! I don't have a lot of photos of it but I made it for the SDCC Masquerade in July, which you can see a little of my costume in our skit. You guys might get a kick out of it:

I wear a US size 8 and ordered a 39 in the Po-Zu boots. They're slightly roomy (but I also have a very narrow foot), but uber comfy. With thicker socks, they fit fine.

That's good news! I'm going to see where the measurements put me. Thanks for the input, I super appreciate it. :)
