The result is much better now but, since I don't trust the behavior of that paint when it comes to creating dirty and aging effects, I applied several thin layers of Microscale satin varnish on top. This varnish dulls the shine of the metal a little, but I think it's better this way and it looks more real in this scale.
Yep, been there, done it. I still use AK when I have to, but always with a bit of apprehension wondering if things will go as planed or not. :) At any rate, I think you made the right choice going with the metal aluminum rather than the polished.
And, the last step for the moment, is to create the black strokes that we can see on certain areas of the engines.
Wow, I have never tried the charcoal pencils before, but I gotta admit, the end result looks very convincing. Great job and thanks for sharing!
