Reebok Alien Stompers (Ripley's sneakers from Aliens) re-release

Hello RPF community!

I was browsing the web for some clarity on the Mid Alien Stompers. When the release came I couldn't find them in the search at all. Now, I'm reading on some sites they are only going to be available overseas, not in the US. Which makes zero sense whatsoever from a marketing/business standpoint. However before I read that bit of info, I was on the phone with a Reebok customer service rep. He told me that the Hi tops were sold out and they had a big misfire with their checkout (obviously). I told him I wasn't interested in those at all, just the mids. He told me I was in luck and that they haven't been released yet, only the Hi tops have been released thus far. They should be out sometime today he said and to keep checking my inbox/refreshing the site. He never told me that they were exclusive to overseas and when he told me he sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

I don't know what to believe, for all I know he was talking out of his ass. But he seemed like a real humble, nice dude. Not like how 90% of my customer service calls go and I unfortunately make a lot of them. Registered here for some clarity on the matter. Anyone know if the Mids are just an overseas deal or will they be released in the US later today? I see them popping up on ebay, but not very many. So..**** Idk man. Glad I'm not the only one confused by this mess. They ****ed this up though regardless and this demands a proper re-release.

Well on the Reebok UK site they only seem to be showing the Hi Stompers, the mids aren't coming up at all. Just sent a complaint to Reebok UK about the way this has been handled. Will post their response once received.

I called ask of the brick and mortar stores that were supposed to have them in the US. Nobody got any. Wtf happened to those other 390 pairs? Does anybody know how many were sold through the UK site?

supposedly only 1986 pairs made (get it, 1986, so , cute), versus 10s of thousands of fans.

so, there is the problem, not enough pairs made for the high demand of consumers, thus very low numbers for US, Uk, international online stores and retail sneaker stores

I get the 1986 figure but why not make 1986 of each size!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't these idiots want to make money!!!!!!:wacko:wacko:wacko:confused

Why are girls annoyed at them for being men shoes? I'm pretty sure they were unisex, as they were in the "classics" category, so... a size eur40 is a size eur40 for everybody x)

Can you imagine some group of marketing people sat around in a board room discussing the size demographics and that they would need to make 87 pairs size 6 and 107 pairs size 7 etc, I mean COME ON!!!! just release 1986 pairs of each size and job done, but that assumes the person with the brain cell was at work that day!!!

They are not being sold in the US. I just came to know about this.

"In the US, only the hi-tops are being released."

Wow..now I'm upset. What the hell were they thinking? I can't think of a reason as to why they wouldn't release them here. Hell, when I signed up for the notification on Reebok's website for the Stompers, it said both mid and hi tops were to be released. Guess I'll never get to live my childhood dream of being in Bishop's shoes. I guess the customer service rep was talking out his ass..go figure.
Well I guess I'll keep an eye on Ebay till I find a pair for a decent price...:(

Really really wanted to get a pair of these today on the Irish Reebok site. No luck. Don't even think they were available even though they were on the site. Heartbreaking to see the scalpers having them up on Ebay already. These scalpers are a ******* cancer.

Well unless you have a large foot for a woman (I have a US 9, which is a 7 in Mens) then there isn't one to fit you. It isn't the fact that they are in mens' sizes that are the problem, it's that they don't make them in SMALL ENOUGH mens' sizes to fit most women.

The representative for Reebok said the following to io9, “The Alien Stompers were released in men’s sizes due to retail demand.”

This is mainly in regards to the US site listings where the Men's Classics category isn't unisex.

Priscilla Page ‏on twitter mentioned little more about this. They made shoes in US size 8 to 12. Usually Men's 8 = Women's 10. Most women wear sizes 6 to 9. So only women wearing sizes 10 and above can make it work by buying Men's shoes.

I wonder if there are any UK sites out there that might have a size 9.5 Mid doubt it though..man I really wish they would have told us that tidbit. I was so pumped to get these.

Seriously, there should be a law, stopping scalpers from reselling items like that. Like having them tracked and accuse them of thief, because this is what's happening there. This is not business, whatever these scalpers call it "whaat, this is how business is done", NO! IT'S FREAKING NOT.

Right, they would to have needed to make Mens size 7 for an average woman size. They simply didnt.
