Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build. McL34Ns pattern. (update 16/10/12, 99% done!)

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

Try adding some tinted reflective sheeting behind the blue lenses, this should bring out the blue a lot better as it's shading the piece more, and then add the mesh finish. Like building a delicious sandwich :) mmmmm, sandwich
Maybe?? Just a thought.

That is already tinted gold for the backing. The only problem is that the picture was taken with light source. See the fingers? That means light is going through, that is why. But the blue lenses is great idea. I think blue is the way to go. The movie ones do look a little greenish gold sort of. Way to go. Like your work.:lol

I was worried people might start asking this. Essentially the answer is no. Unless I was to make a deal with my boss, very unlikely, I would pretty much be stealing from him to make these. The materials I used were scrap, they would've gone in the bin anyway. And before you say, fraid I've only got a very small amount of scrap stuff left.

So here we go, option 2.
I went totaly the other way, bleached out the blue and re-dyed them yellow to try and enhance the gold hc pattern.

SO which do you think I should go with?

This version makes them look more like the stunt lenses but then again some promo pics show very bright yellowy-gold lenses too.

How bout you go with some black, would that be better?

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

I think the blue looks much sleeker.

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

to me the yellow look more accurate

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

This is awesome! Yellow looks better, imo

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

I really want to say Blue but I have to agree with the Yellow. Looks really awesome

Ooo I dunno. Quite some time. I got it in mid June and worked on it pretty much every evening for a half hour or more until mid July. That was just for the red parts. I'm still doing the blue now but at a much slower pace.

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

Fantastic job man! You're the first person I've seen that has been working on the blue part painting it. I sent you a PM earlier today & after doing some more countless hours on RPF I realized some of my questions were answered so I do apologize for that. Anyways, cant wait to see the finished product!

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

Whichever lens you decide to go with, just make sure you have some breath-ability on them when you apply them to the mask. Otherwise they will fog up like crazy and you'll be blind! That's part of the reason MCL34N made them like he did. No fog and detachable. Great job mate!

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

Yup, got that covered. All my previous costumes involved helmets, one especially had major fogging issues.
Got an anti fog spray at work, also there are anti fog stick on plastic films you can buy that are pretty good.
Breath shallowly when possible. And if all else fails a quick swab of spit round the lenses does wonders. Like scuba divers do with their masks. Sounds rough but works a treat.

Incredible work here it's truly inspiring, sorry if this has been asked before but how many bottles of black dylon 3D glossy paint did you use for the web lines of the suit? also are the spiders on the back and the front done with this 3D paint too?
