Wow dude those are some nice scores! Great care package set.

Looks like that blue is coming along nicely too! Good steady hand my friend. And I notice you also went ahead and started filling in the back spider. That's a nice extra! I don't think its raised on my suit.

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

Hey guys hows the paint holding up? Has any of it started breaking yet?

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

Nice puffing! Blue looks great.

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

Great stuff, are you going to add the skate straps to the pack? I remember seeing someone here do that , I can't pinpoint who.

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

As always thanks for the nice comments guys.

Fett: Yeah mate, working on the back spider. It's tough, as you know, some of the legs are very thin go a really steady hand is needed.

Oh and also, it's a wig. ;P

thorneboy: Nope no peeling of paint yet.

Nanak: I've been thinking it over and I'm not sure if I'm gonna put straps on. In my mind if I put straps on then I HAVE TO get a board too and I'm not keen on spending out on one at this time. Maybe at a later point I will.

Cheers guys.

You may use hobby masking tape to do the back spider. That will work fine with the very thin part.

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

Right so I need some opinions from you guys.

As I've mentioned in another thread I work as lab tech in optics. Work was slow today so I thought I'd have a go at something that's been knocking around in my head for a few days.

So I've noticed in some promotional pics that Spidey's lenses are sometimes made to look like they have a blue-ish hue to them.
I also think it was mentioned somewhere in an interview that the lenses used in the movie are infact blue with the gold printed over.

Now, I don't have the tools to do that at work but I was able to come up with something close to it.

I took some scrap low prescription lenses (a low minus power, these lenses are more curved than a plus power lens so fit the curve of the frame better) and cut it to shape. Unfortunately they still weren't curved enough so I had to heat them and then could shape them by hand.
Then I tinted them a very light shade of blue.
Here are the results:

So here is what the eyes look like with just the gold hc lenses in:

and this is what they look like with the blue lenses over the top:

What do you think? Any good? I'm not sure if I'm happy with it or if it's a bit pointless.

Once it's all put together the way the light will bounce off an actual CR39 plastic lens should give it more of a proper sunglass look.

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

I think the lenses look awesome! Usually builds just have the gold mesh but the blue really sets it off.

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

That's a greatly executed, however it just doesn't look right somehow, maybe too Light? i honestly can't figure out

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

Try adding some tinted reflective sheeting behind the blue lenses, this should bring out the blue a lot better as it's shading the piece more, and then add the mesh finish. Like building a delicious sandwich :) mmmmm, sandwich
Maybe?? Just a thought.

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

You've raised the bar with these lenses my friend, kudos!

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

What if you were to put the mesh over the lens. How does that look? can you post a pic?

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in

Looks cool! The only downside part is the Black eye part is to flat. Joelai's 3d shape looks more accurate to the movies. Just want you to make it as best as possible. It's a cool and different idea that will work

That would kind of make putting the plastic lens in a bit pointless I'm afraid.

no problem. I have a heating machine at work so I can heat and curve both the lenses and the frame summor.

Hmm, thanks for advice guys. I agree that it looks slightly off so I'm gonna try something totally different at work today. Ive been sifting through loads of ref pics and have got a good idea of what i want to do.
Will post the results later.

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build using McL34Ns pattern (New webshooters are in
