Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Build. McL34Ns pattern. (update 16/10/12, 99% done!)

Re: Redtogusas Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern.

Very inspiring build! Great job on everything man! :)

Ha. I did the same. Got 6 small bottles of the Dylon which are useless to me now.

For the Tulip I bought them from eBay:
Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint 4 oz. - Puffy Red | eBay

They're 4oz each. I bought 4 bottles but have barely used 2 for the entire suit.

Thanks for the info on the amount! I really had no idea how much of the red to buy.

However for the black, those 6 small bottles, I'm guessing that was just for the spider and the webbing? How many 4oz Tulip bottles do you think will be enough to cover all the black raised parts? (webbing, spider, honeycomb pattern on blue parts)

Thanks for sharing your progress! :)

Hard to say but I'd reckon no more than 3 tops.

El Fett
Did you use the red puffy for the back spider?
Havent seen many back spider pics.
You rock.

Re: Redtogusas Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern.

Red, just curious on the total tulip paint you bought or used. For the red and black color

I bought 4 red (4oz) but barely used 2. The black was a Dylon brand and I bought 6 of those (1.25oz) used 4 of those.

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern (Update pg 7).

I am curious, where did you buy material? did you map fit yourself,, ? I really would like to buy one and start to do the webbing like you do.

I won it in one of McL34N's eBay auctions. It was a prototype he had already sewn.

How's the blue coming along? What's your next milestone/deadline for completion? Any other parties or events coming your way?

I'm actually basing my next milestone off getting a leaner physique to do some studio shots hopefully in the next month or so :)

Sorry I've taken so long to reply mate. Same as you I'm aiming to shed a couple pounds. The weather here has been great the last couple days so I've been taking advantage of it by going jogging, hiking, swimming etc. trying to get rid of the weight by the most enjoyable means possible:

Fear not, I haven't forgotten about Spidey. Got some blue puff paint on the way to mix with the black and got some of Carl's webshooters coming from shapeways. Also looking to get hold of some new lens material.

Right now I'm finishing up some red parts I didn't get to before the party and doing some research on a Gwen Stacey costume for my wife.

Stay tuned for a proper update in a few weeks.

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern (Update pg 7).

Got a small update a little sooner than I thought I would. Blue paint came in today. I mixed in some black but I'm not sure that it was enough, seems a little light still. :confused

Not to worry, a bit of black misting with the airbrush should sort it out.

As it is the paint was still pretty wet when I took the picture and it darkens as it drys so it may be ok, will have to wait see.

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern (Update pg 7).

That looks awesome man! And trust me when I say that only the hard core costumers like us on this board are gonna notice the difference.

Also it looks like its darkening up a little bit as it dries.

Dude, that looks so good, Two gigantic thumbs way up

Re: Redtogusa's Amazing Spiderman Costume using McL34Ns pattern (Update pg 7).

That's looking nice! Just make sure you lay the paint in extra-thin on the high-stretch areas to avoid breaking.
