Red Skull costume progess (new hi res pics pg 8)

Re: Red Skull costume progess

Ahhh..the mask landed safe and sound.
Oh my gawd...it feels really weird and looks incredible.
I must be patient (I keep telling myself) putting it on tonite.

Re: Red Skull costume progess

Wow, the mask is really neat. I was afraid of it at first that I'd be claustrophobic. I'm typically not...but this seemed different.
I can't hear very good...sounds like I am under water.
It fits super awesome.
I watched videos on CFX masks a lot and memorized how they put their masks on. Once on, it is neat how you can re-position in spots to get it fitting your features just right.
I can get it close to my mouth, so you can see my teeth! Sa-weet.

On to some pics!

ohh, pics of the coat liner really didn't show much.
But, here is a pic of one of those stick-on shoulder patches.
Umm yea...not using them LOL

Awesome looking costume! Love the mask and waiting for mine to arrive.

The patches do suck, but the coat looks amazing. Just need TheMechanic's patches and a great buckle. Out of curiosity, can the belt be swapped out with another to hold the metal buckle?

Re: Red Skull costume progess

Thanks folks!
Tom did a fantastic job on the the mask.

The belt is a seperate piece and can be swapped out when you get your buckle.

Re: Red Skull costume progess

Siiiiiiick! Most impressive. That's going to be a great costume when fully completed. Great job man!

Re: Red Skull costume progess

looking good, man. glad you recieved the mask. once you have the patches and the new buckle and a little red paint around your eyes, it will really set it off.

Re: Red Skull costume progess

thanks Tom!
I am hoping to hit a makeup shop in the next couple days.
What do suggest? I've never done makeup before; except for those .99 cent ghoul kits ya do as a 5 yr old kid LOL
Do ya use a foam applicator to swipe a little red on? Any tips to keep it from looking cheap-shiney?

In one of my previous posts, I mentioned the smell of the jacket. I kept it in a sealed plastic container overnight with a box of baking soda. Ya know, it DID seem to help. After suiting up last night, I put it back in the container. I will see how it smells when I get home from work today. If the smell doesn't reduce further, meh, that is okay...the reduction of odor thus far is a VAST improvement.

Re: Red Skull costume progess

*sigh*
well, I stopped by a local place last night to scope out makeup for my eyes.
The gal l know, who performs in local theater, suggested the place.
Ummm yea...it was a chic store LOL
It wasn't what I had in mind - the walls were lined with lipsticks and cream...super fancy-shmancy kinda like a Von Maur or Macy's.
Soo yea...I'm a dude showing these two older ladies a mask of Red Skull.
hahaha the look on their face was priceless.

They sit me in a chair and brothers- they get right to it...
They're brushing some sort of power foundation on my eye...and applying different shades of lipstick to start gauging colors.

The first attempt, seriously, looked like I had a black eye..it was AWESOME. lol
Not what I went into the store for, but it was funny.

After about 15 minutes, they landed on the right power foundation, and an eye liner pencil/stick that has a color on each end. I have to say, it looked pretty neat.
Is it unorthadox for what I intend to do with it; I dunno...I know jack about makeup.

Now, I gave my wife first dibbs at this...if she had something in her kit that I could use, go for it...but she said no. Folks - when I came home with that bag that said, Merle Norman Cosmetics...she freaked out. Yea...I got shafted on price...which I already kinda figured before I handed em the debit card...but I was in a pinch, I leave town too soon to order online or go out of town. All in all, for the makeup, remover, some applicators..I spent $45 and will last me far more than a dozen workups.

I'll hopefully have some test pics today.

I do have a plan to meet a local guy and see how well his laser engraver is. Gonna take some stuff I have, it's somewhat transparent and more flexible than acrylic. I think when I bought the roll of it, they called it PETG? Any-whoos...it's the right thickness and I should have no problem adding a little bit of curve to it like a belt buckle after he engraves my logo. A quick paint job and black-wash for weathering...should be okay.

Re: Red Skull costume progess

Looks great. I've ordered my movie-style coat and collar from the same place, thanks to your help. Yours looks amazing and inspired me to follow suit. (No pun intended lol)

Did ya tell Shannon you talked to me?
I'm still emailing with her...I sent her my hydra logo so they can improve their patches. I also sent her pics of me in the mask.

Re: Red Skull costume progess

THAT...is one great coat!! ESPECIALLY for the money!! Really hard to beat! (y)thumbsup

Tom's mask is superb, just superb!

This outfit looks so good, this is about the highest compliment I can give- as a die-hard Captain America costumer, you make me want to get this coat!!:lol:lol

Re: Red Skull costume progess

@Chad do you think the material would hold up if I was to mod and add the ribbed detail by the shoulders?
