Recaster question

I can't post in OT, so hopefully this post's location in the prop forum can be rationalized. There is a person on eBay selling busts for cheap like they are going out of style. I've seen the same bust come up over and over again so I know he/she is churning them out. Does anyone know if these are recasts? Some look very familiar. I wanted to check before I dropped the cash. I assumed posting ebay links/names was against policy so I withheld, although if you search eBay now for 1:1 bust you'll see a seller letting busts and helmets go for around $99.00. I would also ask, is there anything you can do if a person starts recasting your stuff and selling it on eBay? Yea, I'm new and I didn't want to start off by buying recast work.

if is the one selling the skywalker 49.99 , it seems like a good deal . gotta get what you can if the price is right.

Wow you're going to be popular.

Well then. Anyone know if this stuff is recast? The Iron Man helmet looks just like the licensed version of the MKIII.

The Skywalker bust looks like JRX's sculpt to me and seeing as how JRX is not making them anymore it's likely this is recast if the guys selling multiples.

Yea those pieces deffiantly look recast, the clone helmet looks like it maybe the EFX one, hard to tell. Not too sure about Iron man stuff.

YES, it looks like recast stuff. The clone helmet is efx. The Biker Scout looks like MLC.

Lots of Jawa Blasters, busts, Zat guns, etc.

I can't tell you who made the Iron Man helmet, but by looking at the eyes, where he backed them with duct tape for recasting, it too is a recast.

Please add "Fan-Made" in West Covina to the "DO NOT SELL TO" list

:eek:rolleyes(n)thumbsdown Poor form, and your unlikely to make any friends with that attitude about recasting.

Thanks for the heads-up Fetts:thumbsup

I don't mean any offense to anyone . I'm still learning about that part of the system. But in the same vain , you shouldn't judge a buyer if that is all they can spend on something. The typical ebayer buyer that isn't involved in the " prop community" doesn't know that unwritten law. education is the key. Now I know and I will not buy from them.

That attitude should get a automatic ban from this comunity. It shows lack of understanding and i dont se our comunity having any benefits of having people with this type of attitude and i dont even bother to explain why. :thumbsdown

Pisses me off!:angry

Can we get more details from were this is? State Region?

As a machinist who makes alot of "one off " prop pieces, it always bugs me to no end when I see stuff that looks like my stuff offered in resin. Some more honest people have at least asked if it would be alright. A good rule of thumb is if its on ebay...its prohably recast or of a poor quality. Stick with the real brand name stuff there. There is a guy who sells horrible recast terminators and another guy who sells ****** R2 d2's.

My two cents

Another one for the list defstar ?? Looks pretty conclusive to me , thats unless he is one hell of a busy sculptor :lol

It sounds crazy but I swear the Iron Man looks like the MR helmet. It's hard to tell from the little pictures but the eye to eye tip distance and cheekbone contours along with the eye tip to temple distance looks just like the MR helmet to me.
